wings_fanatic 677 Report post Posted March 2, 2008 Actually, as weired as the thought is, I do think that it is a good thing. Our team is not playing good right now without their key defenceman, who are vital to create plays, the powerplay, penelty kill, and just to take care of things in our own zone. Not only are they getting some rest, but once they come back (1 and a half weeks from now tops), it will be very much like when the Ducks got back Neids and Selenne, a HUGE confidence and momentum booster to the team. This will make the wings surging just at the right time, heading into playoffs where they will win the cup...
blind 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2008 If the wings drop to 2nd in the west and the rest of the top 5 stand as they are, it could be beneficial for the wings. If wings finish first, they would have to play Ducks or Sharks in the second round. But if the wings finish 2nd, they would face Wild in the 2nd round. Sevumar 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2008 I don't think I could ever regard injuries as a good thing, but it makes sense to take advantage of the opportunities that do present themselves.
Grittzkey 1 Report post Posted March 2, 2008 Its good for us in a couple reasons If more injuries happen. we know what players can step up. And It puts us off the pedistal. . People dont look at us as much wins..anymore.
cirov19 1 Report post Posted March 2, 2008 No, and yes. No becuase we are losing a s***load of points becuase of this (possibly). I don't care about our playoff position being changed for the better because of this. I want the President's trophy, and I want to kick San Jose/Anaheims ass. Yes becuase our players that are on the ice will be a lot more motivated when the others return. The players that are currently injured will be 100% frustrated and play their best (which is always unreal). I do think that motivation and playing up to their skill level completely shadows over lack of points in the end. We will come off with the PT, and surging with healthy, skilled, motivated players. I want Cleary back, that workhorse.
Nicholonio 9 Report post Posted March 2, 2008 Pretty much agree with people's reponses' here. It'll just be one huge confident boost once we gain our players back.
