Why is Samuelsson still on the PP point?

Exactly. Someone should try telling that to the idiots in this thread that defend the guy because he scored 20 goals one year. Jason Williams scored 20 goals once as well, and people were clamoring for his demise here in Detroit, so I don't see how Samulesson should be any different.

I don't think someone is an idiot just because they don't share my opinion. And I was not one of the people defending Sammy, so it's not like I took your post personally. My post in this thread was also about how frustrating it is to watch him and how he should not be on the powerplay. However, that is my opinion, and I don't think people who see it differently are "idiots".

Heh. You make it seem like the people who defend Samuelsson are such nice guys that value our opinions to the full extent, and don't say anything mean to us.

You got me there, what you said is true. A lot of people can get pretty snippy on here at times!

Watching the Wings night in and night out its hard not to notice Sammy's level of play. I think he's a good hockey player but the level of talent he's playing with is excellent and his weaknesses become glaring.

Its frustrating to see him hesitate to shoot on the PP and wind up with a blocked shot. This happens over and over. I think he could have a role on this team just get him off of the top 2 lines and keep him off the PP.

Guest Hatethedrake!
OK, most of you sammy haters are the same as the old jwilly haters. Cmon confess. I'll be the first. But I am downright nostalgic over jwilly when compared to the swedish piece of skit

You mean Willams and Samuelsson are NOT the same player? I always thought that Williams became a Swedish citizen and came up with a different alias (Mikael Samuelsson). They are actually 2 separate people? Crap. Now what will I do? Think the Hawks will take Williams' swedish cousin?

I admit it.

Here's a list I made through 60 games of the number of shots per average time on ice (in minutes). As you can see Sammy shoots more than anyone else, but has little to show for it. Obviously this doesn't include the shots that are blocked (which are considerable, to say the least)

Samuelsson 0.2008

Hank 0.1999

Cleary 0.1606

Dats 0.1559

Franzen 0.1228

Homer 0.1135

Hudler 0.1130

Kopecky 0.1021

Nick 0.0948

Rafalski 0.0911

Ellis 0.0889

Draper 0.0879

Filppula 0.0877

Lebda 0.0871

Kronwall 0.0718

Maltby 0.0584

Chelios 0.0502

Lilja 0.0474

Drake 0.0468

Downey 0.0310

Meech 0.0247

Hartigan 0.0085

So there's your proof, he sux. Bad.

let's at least give sammy SOME credit, and trust me, im not big fan of Samuelsson, but he has been playing better lately.

Oh he does deserve credit. He has a shot for sure. Yet I don't really think he is a slapshot man. He needs to be in closer then shooting out on the Blue line for that powerful wrister of his.

I personally think if he were on the Fourth Line during even strength he would provide alot more production per time on ice.
