Penner has a 5-year, $21.5 million dollar contract. Per the NHLPA, his 07/08 compensation is $4,250,000.

Edit: Moved the decimal.

Don't know if this has been previously discussed but does anyone know how much the Oilers are paying Penner?

4.25 million

a hefty sticker price for these stats: 73 19 22 41 -10

but, he was a duck, and after some feather-rankling, now he is not. so i imagine that counts for something

Lots of players are only as good as the team they are on. There are few players in the history of the game that can turn a team in to a champion single handed. Dustin Penner is not in that category. With a supporting cast he can be an important player, but he can't make a team elite.

i agree. it seems especially true with power forwards, with their high injury rate, and the need of an accompanying playmaker. examples seem to be escaping my mind right now.

Penner is, sadly, a decent value when his output is compared to a lot of other guys who signed contracts last summer. Chris Drury only has 3 more goals and 4 more assists than Penner with a much more talented group of forwards around him. Ryan Smyth missed some games, but his scoring pace is only slightly higher than Penner's (as I said it would be) and he plays with a more offensively skilled squad also.

Naslund/Burtuzzi.... not the Canucks were ever really elite. but those two were pretty dominating before the Steve Moore thing.
