I didn't even know he was on the recipiant list....

Hopefully he follows the requirements so that when his time comes for the transplant he will get it successfully completed :P

Honestly I like it when he plays with a bit of an edge, which would take him out of the running for the Byng. And as I said in the other thread, I don't think he has shot at the selke.

But I'd love for him to win the Conn Smythe. :D

no kidding ... you know, that's exactly what crossed my mind the other day when he checked whoever-it-was at center ice and took the interference call ... there goes the lady byng

I would purposely go out and pick a fight with anyone game 1 of the season, just so my name wasn't tossed around in any award with LADY as the first word....

What if Lord Stanley when he donated that silver bowl demanded it be awarded in honor of his wife, Lady Stanley who had a great love for the sport?

There is no way Pavel will reach 2nd in scoring. Malkin and Ovechkin are too far ahead for ANYONE to reach. I think Ovechkin will win Hart regardless though... Even if they don't make the playoffs, they are still a considerably good team. Next season they will be dynamite, Mike Green will probably be a top 5 defenseman, and that helps.

Woah! Hyperbole to the max!!

Then we would be having to look for a new trophy to be sought after ;) and if not at least the OHL would come around eventually

Or better yet.. I would strive for the Presidents trophy and call it a helluva season once accomplished.

Wishful thinking, John...wishful thinking. The majority of people here can't even wrap their brains around the thought of him maybe being considered for the Selkie, much less the Hart Trophy.

Obviously were far less intelligent than you because we don't think Pavel is a god and should be considered for every major award than you do.

Try to wrap your mind around this:

Lidstrom is the most valuable player to this team. That alone should be enough. Coupled with the fact that there are guys like AO, Luongo, Nabakov and surprisingly even Malkin lately that have absolutely carried their team, and Pavel doesnt even crack the top five.

Selke, there is an argument for. Hart, there really isnt and it has nothing to do with Pavel not being a great player.

yeah, i agree too, i think there are too many higher-profile players who are having great seasons, but i was pleasantly surprised to hear someone recognizing the season he's had ...

I'm with you, Pavel is one of a kind and it's great when he is noticed. However, given how Detroit imploded with Lids away, how can anyone doubt he is the core of this team, the best team in hockey? Seems like an MVP to me.

If the Caps don't make the Playoffs, Malkin Deserves it. IF AO gets them in the playoffs, He deserves it.

Malkin doesn't deserve it. He has been good, but if you suggest him as having been more important to the Pens than Crosby for any time other than when Crosby was out, you are nuts. Even with his injury, Crosby has been the Pens' MVP. Which automatically rules Malkin out of the running.

If Ovechkin doesn't win it, it should go to Brodeur or Lidstrom.

It's still tough. Crosby has missed over 1/4 of the season, and a crucial 1/4 of the season. If Malkin didn't step it up and average like 2 points per game during that time, there is no way the Pens would be in a comfortable playoff position right now. I would probably choose Brodeur over Malkin, but it's hard to determine if Lidstrom should go before Malkin.
