RoninJai 5 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 That guy literally called Hasek "a flake", in the same sentence, on national television. Seriously, NBC should do some homework in to what teams are the most popular nationwide before it decides to hire a bunch of Wings-bashing loud mouths. Better yet...give equal time....give Mickey Redmond a shot in the booth every so often. I've had it with Detroit teams, ALL Detroit teams, getting bashed by national announcers. Mike Mann 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 I personally took Milbury's comments as the *opposing* teams locker room. They were discussing the fact that Hasek has struggled as of recent and Ozzie has been more solid through the year (Pierre's comments, not mine) and Pierre asked Mike - who do you go with? Mike's comment was that you still go with Hasek becuase he has that ability to wreck havok/cause trouble in the locker room. I took that as - he is such a crazy ass goalie, the opposing team can have lots of trouble with him.... And actually Milbury was pretty tame on the whole thing, he just said - if it doesn't work out then you got a great guy like ozzie to step up. Pierre really seemed to be pushing for some controversy, becuase he then said - "ah-ha so you think that Hasek will fail?" And Milbury was like - uhh, no. Just if any hiccups occur, they have solid goaltender in Ozzie to take over. But the locker room comment, I totally took as the opposing team...not ours. To me he meant Hasek can be the x-factor in a series if he's on...and destroy the moral and hopes of the opposing locker room.

Personally thats what i thought too, I dont see someone in their 40s looking to get one more cup before probably retiring again to be hindering a great team like detroit by having an attitude which will just hurt the team and his chances of playing again. Pierre just likes to bash the wings, kinda like a political commentator, hes gunna twist words till they suit what he thinks.
redwinger4747 6 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 We were supposed to lose in the first round to a red-hot Calgary club that had the defense and the goaltending to make a stanley cup run. We scored 5+ on them 3 games during that series. We actually only did that once, game 5. Game 1: 4-1 DET Game 2: 3-1 DET Game 3: 3-2 CGY Game 4: 3-2 CGY Game 5: 5-1 DET Game 6: 2-1 DET (OT)
Guest Mr. Byng Report post Posted April 7, 2008 He did walk out on Buffalo in the '97 playoffs for un-named reasons, but speculation at the time was that he was too flaky to cope with the pressure. Always the speculations with Hasek. He's been surrounded with a lot more speculation than Roy, Brodeur or Luongo for example. Still no other goalie has won as many personal trophies in the NHL as Hasek.

toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 he tends to be a locker room problem. I had never heard that before. I know goalies are usually strange with their quirks, but has anyone on here ever heard of Hasek throwing tantrems? You have seriously never heard this before? Hasek was notorious for his tantrums. I have carefully chosen the word "was" because I haven't seen evidence of it as of late. When the Wings brought him back last year, they were definately thinking about potential attitude problems. I was listening to an interview one day in the summer with Mr. Nill and he was quite open about those concerns, but they were comfortable that he wouldn't be causing any problems off the ice. As far as I can tell, there have been no problems, I haven't heard a thing over the past couple years until I started reading this thread.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 Isn't Datsyuk signing with Washington after this season? Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. He wants to go play with his buddy Ovechkin....atleast that was the rumor.
Statiklullaby87 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 You have to remember though, hockey on NBC and in general is struggling for more viewers, thats why I think they are riding Sid and Ovechkin so hard and people love drama and controversy...So do u think they are just trying to make things more "user friendly" maybe? I cant imagine that non hockey fans even watch the intermission reports anyways so who knows...
2probert4 8 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 I think it was Pierre McGuire that said that, and he was just being a dick all game and saying stupid untrue crap about the Wings, so I doubt it was true about Dom. McGuire (for those who don't know) is from TSN, based in Toronto, which hates Detroit. Take what he says with a grain of salt. Most TV guys like to predict the big upset so they can crow about it down the road, regardless of the situation may be. If the Leafs were in, they would predict them to win it all. 2probert4 8 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 Who was the guy last season who claimed that all of the players hated Babcock and that the "locker room will implode by Christmas"? I think it was Jeremy Rutherford of the St Louis Post-Dispatch, he of Eklunds informative site. He made up some story about a supposed shouting match between Draper and Babcock, amongst other things. They are showing a couple of the Wings series and if they say it will be Wings in 5 or something, it may affect the ratings or something in their minds.... I think there were issues when CuJo was in Detroit and for whatever reasons Holland brought Hasek back. I know at one point Hasek was not allowed in the locker room, apparantly he had been injured and was stirring up crap in the locker room. CuJo got that shaft in that situation. Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. He wants to go play with his buddy Ovechkin....atleast that was the rumor. Yeah I can just picture Brett Hull's thought process. "HEY! Datsyuk is Russian. And Ovechkin is Russain too. This MUST mean they are BFFS and want to play together. I think I'm on to something."
