GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 I actually don't think Montreal should be in the top 5, and I don't see them getting past the 2nd round. I'd move the Rangers up on that list, and would switch Anaheim with San Jose. The power rankings are based on recent play, so there's no way I expected Anaheim to be higher , but I still think they're the team to beat.

FrozenPuck 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 I agree; winning the conference definitely puts them in the Top 5. Whether they're good or not, they might just sneak out of the East as the competition isn't all that strong this year. The real battle is in the West. No way the Rangers should be in the top 5 ahead of Montreal. I don't know what more evidence you need to put Montreal in the top 5 other then the fact they won the East with 7 more points then the Rags. Montreal's position in the top 5 is well deserved. But then again, what do power rankings mean anyways. They are useless.

The real battle is in the West. Oh I totally agree. The West has been the dominant conference; however, I still think Montreal deserves to be in the Top 5. Doesn't mean they will make it out of the first round, but after their nice regular season, I'd say they're the #5 team.
Red Winged 8 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 The sharks have earned the number one imo.
Opie 308 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 The sharks have earned the number one imo. Not to argue with you, or start a flame war but do you care to expand upon that. For instance I would say the wings are because they have: the most points the most wins the fewest loses (you may think this and the one above go hand and hand, but they don't necessarily) 2nd most GF the fewest GA so on and so forth, I am not saying you are wrong, please don't take it as that but what criteria are you basing that off of. Yahoo must not read Pierre McGuire's rantings. I guess we could all take a hint from them.
