So lets add all the other stuff I mentioned to Unsportsmanlike conduct. We have to make sure none of that stuff ever happens.

Actually we don't need to. People like myself understand the concepts of integrity and common sense.

If you think there needs to be rules to ban all of your other what ifs, then that's fine. We'll make a rule for you and the other slow people.

And I don't ride horses. I prefer to call it my pedestal, or thrown if you will.

When can we start getting penalties for the teams also... I mean i can see the goalies now... "I mean I was so going to stop that puck... but some dick in the 3rd row told me i sucked... and it disctracted me!!!!!!!"

I can not wait for that day to happen when fans can get 2mins for saying, "YOU SUCK" to a player.

while we're at it we might as well penalize players for dangling other players making them look like fools and therefore hurting their feelings too.

"Pavel Datsyuk 2 minutes for making Weber cry and feel insignificant"

Don't people on "thrones" usually tend to be literate and know how to spell?

They didn't make a new rule. They already had "unsportsmanlike conduct". The ref could have called Avery for doing that yesterday, but he didn't. The league is just letting everyone know that those actions will be interpreted as "unsportsmanlike conduct". No new rule was created here.

exactly! so many people on here do not understand that there is no need for a new rule to be created. :ranting:

avery is obviously very effective and for a while there i thought maybe he would grow up but i guess i was wrong. shanny must despise this kid and i love how drury comes over and is like "dude, please stop making a mockery of the game" in the middle of his wild performance. veterans HATE these types of players and i imagine it was guys like shanahan, chelios, yzerman who wanted avery the hell out of detroit.

I have a softball game today, what can I say, i've got softball on the brain.

Still doesn't change the fact that you didn't get it but are coming around. Thanks for getting on the bus with the rest of us.

OsGod,

Come on dude I know you are more intelligent than that, or someone hijacked your account.

You are trying to compare what Avery did to a fan yelling you suck.

1. Avery's employer is the NHL (more specifically the Rags) and they can control how an employee or a member of than union/organization can behave, talk, even what they wear.

2. A fan is a paying customer, and while I don't think that gives them the liberty to be an asshat, it puts them out of the control of the NHL. The only thing the NHL can do is stop certain actions, they cannot stop someone from yelling.

Plus you are comparing Avery standing 3 feet from Broduer swinging a stick at him and jumping around, to someone in the stands yelling at him.

But Avery probably belongs in the stands, not due to skill mind you, that way he can act like a child all he wants.

This man's mouth and actions make him out to be an 8 year old boy.

There is no denying he is talented but is he worth the distraction to his own team. Apparently LA and DET thought NO!!

Yeah I have absolutely no problem admitting I am wrong. Now that the NHL has addressed the issue it is wrong, and I doubt we will see it again. I just find it hilarious that you attempt to throw someone under the bus and forget to check your own work before knocking a person.

Next time you lunge at someone, try to make sure you don't leave yourself open to attack.

First of all, what Avery did was downright annoying. What worries me more would be if someone had shot a puck and hit him in the back of the head or something. Wouldn't have knocked any sense into him, but he could very well have hit Brodeur with his stick while falling, and done some damage to the goalie. I guarantee you if he would have pulled that stunt in the regular season, someone would have had his head.

Unsportsmanlike conduct is not out of line as a ruling.

AGREED!

Here's a list of folks from Page 1 only of this thread. I wonder what excuse they'll make now for it being ok when obviously the league, and those of us who "get it" already knew this wasn't kosher.

Buehler..............

SeeinRed

Viperar

OntarioWingsFan

LadyWildcat

Vincanni

Earthhuman

irishtemper14+25

Wings_Rule_1010

umredwings11

SergeiwasmyfavRivalred

seriously, people need to go back and read some of these folks comments from page 1.

edit: OntarioWingsFan has been stricken from the list, good for you! :)

My comment was literally one sentence long. All I said was I didn't think it was that big of a deal. I never said it wasn't classless, I never said he was being a "good sport". The league has decided to address the issue directly, so good. Now we can be done with it. But please don't lump me in with those who were defending Avery as though everything was just hunky dorey because I was not. I just said I didn't think he had done anything horrible.

It's a spelling mistake dude. In my haste, i'd rather misspell something than to be fundamentally wrong about something as important as the integrity of the game.

And I love how you claim to have contributed anything to this conversation except saying that you felt is was wrong and unsportsmanlike when you contributed nothing worthy of commendable discussion unlike GS&T.

Don't try to jump on the horse now and wrap your arms around GS&T to make sure you don't fall off and get your feelings hurt.

I still don't see how at the time this was wrong... although now with the new "avery rule" in effect... which BTW i think is Effing hilarious to know a specific rule was created (even as dumb as it sounds in written formality) specifically for something you did...

now i guess it is "wrong" but still... everyone is deadhorse.gif

Like I said, I was wrong and fully back down. The NHL has stated that this is not allowed and therefore, it is what it is.

I'm better off admitting this than letting someone like Dano ride around on his high horse of finally achieving his life goal of winning an internet argument.

Hey dammit! How many times do I have to tell you, we Ciccarelli fans don't ride horses!

WE SIT ON THROWNS! :D

ps: I'm just busting your balls. A real man can admit when they were wrong about something. You sir are a real man.

Please tell me I'm not the only who knows that NO NEW rule was created here. Avery's actions were unsportsmanlike conduct. The ref could have called a penalty, he didn't, now the league is letting everyone know that it won't be let go in the future...

You can't tell me this isn't absurd to have it "officially" documented:

"An unsportsmanlike conduct minor penalty (Rule 75) will be interpreted and applied, effective immediately, to a situation when an offensive player positions himself facing the opposition goaltender and engages in actions such as waving his arms or stick in front of the goaltender's face..."

I cant literally stop  ing that this verbage is found in an official rule book of the NHL.... teehee
