tommingthepuck96 1 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 Come second round, how are the match-ups decided? Like assuming detroit beats nashville. How is it decided who they play in the second round?? The winner of the cgy/sharks series, avs/wild, or stars/ducks? Is it who ever was the lowest seed? Or what? I never understood how these are determined. Any help would be great. Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 The highest remaining seed plays the lowest remaining seed etc.. Example: (Assuming Detroit, Calgary, Dallas and Minnesota win their respective series) Detroit(1) - Calgary(7) Minnesota(3) - Dallas(5)

Speaking of the 2nd round, (and forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere) does it do anyone elses heart good to see both Anaheim and San Jose in a big hole right now?
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 (edited) Speaking of the 2nd round, (and forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere) does it do anyone elses heart good to see both Anaheim and San Jose in a big hole right now? I don't think SJ is in that big of a hole......Anaheim on the other hand. That being said, if ANA can find a way to win tomorrow I bet that series will go 7 games. SJ isn't in panic mode just yet but if they lose tomorrow they'll be in trouble. Even if both those teams do find a way to move on, I'm thrilled to see it won't be any quicker than 6 games for either of them. That's great news for the Wings or anyone else that plays them. WhiteLightning91 105 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 For totally selfish reasons I hope SJ makes it through the 1st round. I'm hoping Calgary will make the series go 7 games because I want SJ to be as worn out physically as possible when we would potentially have to face them in the 3rd round (of course we both make have to make it that far). My ideal 2nd round matchups would be: (1) Detroit vs. (6) Colorado (2) San Jose vs. (5) Dallas A 2nd round series against Dallas would really suck for SJ. Just the physical toll it would take for them to get past Calgary would already put them at a disadvantage. Dallas is really showing some resilience in the playoffs too. They weren't given a chance against the Ducks and have really started to show why they were one of the best teams in the West up until March or so. Why Colorado? Well, for one, less travel than Calgary. I think the Dives are riding a high right now, but still have weakness on defense. Colorado is a less threatening atmosphere to play in than Calgary's barn as well.
