The redwings are clearly the best NHL team to ever set foot on the ice. The statistics show this to be true.

But, when you see a team like this preform the way they have last night, you gotta wonder what's going on here? I'm sure many redwings fans were left with this thought "what just happened here?"

Now, I've read alot of threads here about changing captains, even firing Ken & Babcock.. I got news for you, that isn't going to solve anything here. The people to blame here are the Redwings. Alot of simple mistakes were made last night, and that's what cost them the game.

Hasek gave up 2 goals that he should have easily stopped. The Red Wing defense on the first pred's goal was missing at the top of the circle, hence why a pass was allowed to Alexander Radulov and a goal was scored. There was nothing Hasek could have really done to stop this. A faceoff was lost, and Weber beat Hasek for the 2-0 lead. The third goal scored by the pred's was the winning goal for them, as it was shot from near the blueline by Greg De Vries in which was unscreened and Hasek let it sail right on by him. Hasek was pulled afterwards for Ozgood. Ozzy kept the pred's at bay by comming up big on a 5 on 3, and made 4 good saves.

The other major problem for the wings last night was the number of penalties they took in the first period.. 5 penalties in the first, and 2 in the second period. The pred's also took 5 in the first, but the wings only capitalized on one of them.

Do I think the wings will loose the series? It's hard to say. They have been known to "choke" when it come's to the playoffs, but I have faith that they will work through these problems I've mentioned above. If they don't, then we are likely to see a repeat of last year, and most likely some drastic changes. I do think they should start Ozgood. Just my thoughts on it.

I have a question about the bolded part, are you saying if they don't make those changes they will lose in the WCF's again or they will lose the series.

Because I will settle for a WCF loss, That means they will have one 2 series and had a chance to go to the SCF, especially if they lose 4-2, I can deal with that!

Um.. No... Statistics say it all. Are you saying they are not? Sure the wings have their ups n downs, but to say they are not one of the best teams to set foot on the ice is silly. The only team to have won the Presidents' Trophy more than twice is the Detroit Red Wings, with six. However, the Montreal Canadians have finished first overall 21 times, the most times in league history, although they have yet to win the Presidents' Trophy. Detroit is second with 17 first-overall finishes. So yeah, I don't think it's a joke.

I put the other link up there for a recap of the game.

To answer the above post, I am saying alot of these simple mistakes are what's causing the wings to get into trouble. They add up, and cause problems for the wings. Just look at how hard of a time the Chicago Blackhawks gave the wings this year. If you recorded those games, I encourage you to watch them. As for all these posts about how it's time for a new captain, and all this other nonsense. You can't fault management, nor I do not believe it's a Captain / leader issue, nor is it Ken and Babcocks fault. Babcock made the right call by starting Ozgood. I have faith in Ozzy, and I have a good feeling about tonights game. As long as they don't make these simple mistakes again as mentioned above, the wings will have this. If they don't, then I will find it rather hard to believe they will win the series if they do not win tonight.

I think whats confusing people is you are making it sound like this current Wings squad is the best team to *ever* step foot on the ice, which simply isn't true. Now, they were the best team in the regular season as proved by their record, but they most certainly aren't the best all-around team of all time.

Welcome to the boards.
