WQF Game 5 GDT: Red Wings 2, Predators 1 (OT)

I realize we're all in good spirits because we're currently winning, but I was not too happy with that period overall. The wings came out flying in the first 5 minutes. They stopped all that flying after they scored a goal. I expect to see them flying around like they did in those 5 minutes, ALL GAME LONG.

Man the wings worry me when they slow down their play, and yes, I think they slowed down after 5 minutes. Anyone else agree with this?

Again, I'm happy we are up, but I'm still quite concerned here.

I think the intensity was there for the most part, but the end of the period had our guys running around just a tad too much. Ozzie is looking solid, as usual. I can't believe how many "almost" goals we've had. This is the kind of stuff that comes back to bite you in the ass later. We need to ratchet it up another notch. Keep taking the play to them. Bang, crash, smash, score. I'd like to see some more tandem hits like Helm and Drake landed earlier in the period.... but NOT at the risk of an odd-man rush. Play defensively sound hockey. NOT prevent hockey.

LET'S GO RED WINGS!

Jeff

Maybe this is their attempt to slow the game down, as people have been suggesting lately. Don't let the Preds get any momentum. I don't like that trend of laying back after one goal or one goal lead... but at least the D showed up and the offense is (or was) going to the net.

Perhaps consistency isn't just a problem for one player, maybe it's all of them... let's see what they do in the 2nd before we draw conclusions. What do you think?
