Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted April 25, 2008 Talk about a Jekyll and Hyde game. The Wings responded amazingly well early and dominated the first half of the game. But we all knew that it wouldn't be that easy. But the Wings looked like the Sharks trying to protect a lead out there. I'm stating the obvious, but they need to not sit back next time. The middle of the third was particularly brutal. But I thought the last four minutes the Wings did a great shutdown job--except that blow coverage with 10 secs left, and Ozzie was there to bail them out. But the important thing is that the Wings did hang on, and they'll come back with a much better effort for game 2. Speaking of which, I expect much more complete efforts from both teams Saturday. Especially if Floppa is back for the Avs (and Hannan and Wolski return), and if the Wings get Stuart and perhaps Malts back. That was a fun game, Wingies. Don't do that to me again! Lebda looked lost, and Cheli, well Cheli looked 46 tonight, maybe it was an off night but yikes. Getting Stuart back will help I guess cause then Lilja should be down on the 3rd pair with Cheli. Honestly though, if we lose a game I would like to see Meech make an appearance in this series. Sammy has got to get off that point on the 2nd pp too, he'll cost us a game at some point if he plays there all series. Maybe it's just because he's had like 2 shots on goal over the entire second half of the season so any shot from him surprises me, let alot multiple in a single game. Either way, i'm pleased.
