T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted April 30, 2008 This coming from a town (Detroit) that doesn't even have people downtown, real or fake! See that museum there in the pics? People actually go to it all the time (and they can read). It is crowded all the time and you can walk around it without fearing for your life. You could buy an apartment in Philly or a whole damn building in Detroit for the same price. That's right, no real estate bubble here in Philly. Center City is booming and Philly is attracting more corporate headquarters than any other big city. Comcast has a new 975 foot tall building going up. How many new skyscrapers in Detroit going up now? Hmmm All Detroit has is hockey, and don't forget it bub. Think otherwise? I'll put my house for sale and you put yours up and let's see what happens. Mine would be sold in two weeks for 60k more than I paid for it a few years ago. I'm a Wings fan to the end, but don't bash my town when you have enough sorry ass crap in your own back yard. Sounds like someone needs a hug because Detroit has a statue of a real boxing champion and all you have is a statue of a fictional movie character boxing champion. If you be nice, maybe Detroit fan will promise NOT to put a Pistons jersey on fake boxing champion statue.

Only one in Philly, that's it? Gosh, we just finished two and are working on two more. Sorry our real boxer can beat up your fictional one. But I do think it's kind of silly, overreacting to the practical joke played by the Habs fans. "Desecrated" the statue....all they did was put on a jersey. Surely Philly fans aren't that sensitive to get all upset over it.
union drone 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2008 And there's an Optimus Prime statue in Yunnan, China. (come on, you knew I was going to chime in with something like this...) come on, EVERYBODY knows that Optimus Prime was one of the greatest heroes on both Cybertron and Earth. How could he NOT have a statue?!

I wasn't pissed about the stupid statue, it was the bashing of Philly from no less than Detroit, the laughing stock city of the country. Like I said, all you have is sports. Philly has problems like any city, but Detroit has problems like no other city. Getting a smart non gangsta mayor would be a start. Philly actually came out in droves for a new black mayor who is smart and not a hood. What a concept! Oh, and our women are far far hotter. No doubt about that. Why take any nice evening and walk around the lively center city area of Philly and compare that with a walk around the lively downtown Detroit... oh, I guess that won't work. The problem is, you haven't taken a walk around downtown Detroit, so you don't know what you're talking about. Try Greektown or the riverfront. No, it doesn't have to be a game night, either. See, you are actually on a hockey forum right now, not a Sunday morning political or economic review. At this precise moment, all we are really concerned about is hockey. So when you say that all we have is hockey, we may just nod in agreement and say, "yeah... so whats your point?" And you do kinda sound like a politician; that was a bunch of hot air but no answer to the actual question that you quoted. Are you by chance sitting at a desk working in a governement office in Philly right now...suppossed to be working for the tax payers but instead are surfing Letsgowings? No one was bashing your town...Philly's a cool city with a hell of a lot of history. Thats why its so funny that there's a statue of a fictional movie character in such a prominent spot.
