Congrats to Joe Sakic

Sakic ranks amongst the most respected players of all time.

1. Steve Yzerman

2. Bobby Orr

3. Mario Lemieux

4. Joe Sakic

5.Paul Kariya

6.Claude Lemieux

7.Sean Avery

Maybe because he had Hernia surgery and he may not be at 100%. He is one of the best face off men in the league. He needs to stay in the game until he is at least 40. I am a fan of his and I hope he doesn't retire.

IT was a classy move though by Quenville to let him take the last shift if it was his last shift.

I wish Babcock would have let Stevie do that.

I don't know about that. It was a bit of a different situation as the Wings were down by one with under a minute left against the Oil after Hemsky scored. We needed our best skilled players out there in an attempt to tie the game. I could understand if we were down by an unreachable margin, however.

Im pretty optimistic that he will be back next season. It will be a very sad day in Avaland when he decides to hang em up. I cant even imagine what you all went through when Stevie Y retired.

It sucked but Pavel and Zetterberg made it much easier than it should've been.

Yep.

186 over 185. Unfortunately, Stevie has had some lousy postseasons. :(

Sakic passing Yzerman has more to do with the fact that Sakic spent less time doing it alone. Not saying he's not great, but Yzerman was pretty much the only guy on the team for the first eight years of his career. Eight years in, Sakic had a Stanley Cup worthy supporting cast.

I can't see him hanging it up until next year, but if he does he is one of the best out there. He has always been their leader, reminds me a lot about someone from Detroit.

I don't think that it was Joe's last game. I don't think he would want to go out like they did.

But my personal opinion is this. I don't think he'll retire. He do one more year.
