wingfanatic4alltime 32 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 (edited) I didnt see this posted anywhere on here but do you guys think the avalanche should resign him or should they let him go. Personally the decision to stick with theodore really baffled me i think they should have gone with budaj for gm 3 but thats just my opinion. edicius 3,269 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 For the Avs' sake, I'd suggest they - to use a wonderful hockey cliche - "go in a different direction" behind the bench.
hallelujahlogic 1 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 i hope they don't fire him! maybe we'll meet the av's in the playoffs next season and quenneville's bonehead decisions will lead to more 8-2 blowouts on their home ice. i can't say i didn't like it! thanks joely! Doggy 130 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 They should only let him go if they have a good replacement but that's just common sense. Q isn't the world's worst coach. Wings fans just don't respect him because Detroit has owned him his whole career.
Glubki 17 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 Injuries are one thing but Quenneville lost control of that team during the Wing's series. Their defense was non-existant and all the penalties were inexcusable for a team that made it all the way to the second round. Also - As mentioned above the decision to stick with Theodore was a joke... I wouldn't be surprised if they let him walk....
RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 I listened to their end of the season (hehe) radio show yesterday - had on Francois Giguere and he won't comment on Q right now. Leads me to believe they will let him go - but who knows. The commentators (Frei et al) think they should have offered him a new contract by now - so who knows. Q is an OK coach - if the Avs have any aspirations of going further than a lucky 2nd round in the POs they should look elsewhere. Dunno who is out there - maybe if Wilson gets canned they'll hire him - hell take Hartley back! lol If the situation were reversed, and our coach had that kind of record vs the Avs, I would be calling for his head. 0-8 in one season? I don't care how many injury excuses they come up with - that is just unacceptable. But hey - it would be better for Wings fans to keep him around. An easy 4 W's during the season. The Wings were just better that much better than the Avs. Can't really blame the coach for having so many key players not able to play.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 He's a bullheaded idiot who will never succeed in playoff hockey. With that said, I hope he coaches their team for a long time.

They basically missed or had unhealthy players in the lineup that included Forsberg Svatos Smyth Wolski Hannan Stastny Leopold We were the better team but let's face facts, these were not the real Avs. This was Sakic, Brunette and Hejduk with a bunch of guys we probably wouldn't trade Jiri Hudler for. They were decimated by injuries and it showed. They couldn't generate offense b/c most of their offense was sitting in urgent care. I don't know about sticking with Theodore. Budaj seemed to play better than Theodore so I would've made the switch. However, when you think about it, what difference would it have made. We lit up Budaj anyway and they still would've been an injury riddled team. If I were the Avs GM I would keep him on. There are plenty of reasons to keep him there and plenty of excuses that can be made for their playoff ousting. We were going to beat their asses anyway so what did it really matter. Did anyone really think the Avs had a chance? Maybe if they were completely healthy going in but they weren't so they were dead before the first puck even dropped.
