Opie 308 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 Kinda like that Ken Holland fellow, right? I do get your sarcasm, but for those who don't, Hullie took over in the middle (during the season, not sure what fraction of the year) of the season, where as Holland inherited his wealth of players in the offseason!! Wing Fanatic 3 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 No doubt! Re-signing Schneider meant no Rafalski...Rafalski is a better all-around Dman than Schneider; just look @ our pp, & how it's improved over last year...No coincidence IMO. Same goes for Markov; Stuart is a considerable upgrade as well. I agree 100%. The 2 D-Men we got to replace them are better. I just liked Schneider.
KronwallCRUNCH 5 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 I liked Schneider when he was here, but Rafalski is a HUGE upgrade..and he can hit the net!
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 (edited) How could anyone have not mentioned the hard-working and incredible Bobby Lang? Edited May 13, 2008 by Hockeytown0001

Elshupacabra 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 (edited) Raffy may be a better overall D-man; But I sure miss that rocket from the blueline Schneider had. That thing was killer. Edited May 14, 2008 by Elshupacabra
Opie 308 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 (edited) Raffy may be a better overall D-man; But I sure miss that rocket from the blueline Schneider had. That thing was killer. I was thinking about this and it started to make me wonder if Ralf's shot has helped the wings pp. It is a tip-able shot that still has a little umf behind it, but it is much more deflectable by the forwards, where as Schnied's was just a bomb from the point that people got out of the way off. To me the biggest advantage of Ralf over Schnieds is how well he plays with Lids. Lids said this is the most comfortable (I think his words were best, but not sure) he has felt with a D partner since Larry Murphy, now that could be because those are the only 2 right handers he spent a lot of time with, or it could be that they are both highly talented smart hockey players. Either way if Nick feels more comfortable, happier, better, whatever, than that can only make him better than he already is, ha ha ha ha ha ha, Nick Lidstrom play better, I almost spit coffee out my nose as I typed that!!!!!! Is that even possible? I didn't think he could get better than this season, and then the playoffs started and I changed my mind. The top line ZDH-RL is a power play unit even 5-5. The skill and headsy play that they all possess (yes even homer, some think he is a body in front of the net, but watch how often he makes a touch pass to Z or D or Ralf or Lids that helps either restart the offense, or is a great feed to a forward leaving the zone)!!! RainingBlood 8 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 Difference is Cheli was traded - he didn't choose to come to Detroit. Schneider and Bert both signed elsewhere. With Schneider moving on it made Holland go after Rafalski, I think it was a wise decision. Offensively Schneids is a little better, defensively Ralalski is light years better the Schneider IMO

RainingBlood 8 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 If he doesn't yet, he will when we hoist the cup! well the wings would have hoisted the cup last year if Lilja didnt give up the puck with under a minute to go to send the game to overtime, and then the wings loosing in ot, going down 3-2 instead of being up 3-2 going into Anaheim. If they won that game they would have beat the ducks in 6, and at worst 7. They would have rolled Ottawa.
