Hey guys, if the Wings and Pens sweep, when would the Final Start?

Could it be as early as Saturday or are there set dates. If there already set, then we'll be waiting a week and a half!!!

Anyone know?

Sorry if I'm not down with all the slang, but what does afaik mean? lol

Who? The Pens???

haha, no, jinx the pens all you want.

i know we're three games up, but i guess i get a little overly superstitious during the playoffs. we didn't clinch it against dallas yet.

Game 1 will be May 23 (Friday) or May 24 (Friday) most likely. If both teams sweep, it might move up to Thurs of that week.

Thanks for the info. While I would have liked it to start earlier, the rest is good as long our momentum isn't killed and the Mule needs all the time to rest, hope he gets better.

haha, it's all matter of WHEN, not IF

:)

Just think of what would have to happen for the wings to lose in seven games against the stars.

haha, that's hilarious! Your mom shouldn't be allowed to even turn on the TV in case she accidentally flips by the channel!!!

But we're sure it's gonna be Friday?

Sorry... couldn't resist...;)

The last possible day of the finals is June 9th so that would be a May 26th or 27th start day, but I think thats if both teams went 6 or 7, which doesn't look like it will happen. I hope both teams are done in 4-5 and the finals start the 24th.

Ok, so we concluded it's either Next Thursday 22nd, Friday 23rd or Saturday 24th.

Hopefully Thursday, unless the Mule needs more time, then Saturday!!!

When someone knows for sure, please let us know!

Game 7 for the Detroit/Dallas series would be Wednesday May 21 while game 7 for the Pittsburgh/Philadelphia series would be May 22. The starting time for the Finals is already set. That way the arenas can schedule other activities i.e. concerts, basketball games, etc without having to worry about a conflict. Granted JLA doesn't really have that problem, but some arenas do.

The NHL is just lame when it comes to scheduling. There should be a 2 day rest in between series but no longer.

I can understand the scheduling piece but the NBA doesn't seem to have any issues...

So is it the 23rd or 24th we rock'n'roll!!!

IN my opinion the league should do flexible scheduling for this situation. If both teams sweep the Conference finals are done on the 15th of May. I say take the weekend off, and start the cup on Monday.

Monday5/19-Wed 5/21-Fri 5/23-Sat 5/24-Mon5/26-Wed 5/28-Fri 5/30

That would be my schedule

I understand the desire to see games sooner than later, but there is more to consider than just the fact that the series are over.

Stadium events already scheduled, tv contracts, etc. etc.

So it is not like the league is sitting back going, I don't see any reason not to move the games up a couple of days, but nah, lets not do it.

I understand that, but at the same time is you look at the playoffs as a good way to build publicity and get the sport poularity (which it should be) a casual fan that is just getting into the sport, or trying to follow the playoffs, with the week to week and a half off if both teams sweep, that time period off will cause those fans to forget about it and lose interest, not all but some, and by not being able to keep thigns going, it makes it harder to make the sport more popular to the casual fan.

Long breaks are bad, but I'm not so sure the NBA style of playing two separate roudns at the same time is a good idea, either.

They should have two schedules set up ahead of time. One in case of a 7 game series, the other in case of maybe a 4 or 5 game. That way, if you have situation like the one we aer in now, with two teams possibly sweeping, you can pick Plan A and not have to wait a week, and the schedules are't messed up for other events.
