stud_defenseman 1 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 Going into the next round do you think Babcock will stick with our current successful lineup or will he need to shake some things up depending on our next opponent. If we play Philly next I don't think our lineup will need to change one bit. We keep the Z - Dats - Homer line together and then have a second line centred around the Mule. However, playing Pittsburgh may present a difficult decision for Babs. I think it may be beneficial to split up Z and Dats so that one of them is always on the ice with Malkin and Crosby. It has become clear that these two guys match up extremely well against the top players of other teams simply because they do not have the same defensive abilities. Guys like Malkin, Crosby, Hossa and Sykora are certainly not known for their defensive play, so by matching up dats and Z against them I think we can own them. I am not so sure if a line of filppula - franzen - sammy would be up to the task of containing crosby or malkin. This lineup I think would be good as it would give us three scoring lines (two of which could shutdown Malkin and Crosby) and another shutdown line. filppula - datsyuk - holmstrom franzen - zetterberg - sammy hudler - helm - cleary malts / Dmac - draper - drake i'm not really sure who would play between maltby and Dmac...and this is all assuming that Franzen will be ready to go for the finals *crossing fingers*. what do you guys think? Opie 308 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 First they have to get there, and then Why on earth are so many of you guys insistent on changing lines, especially when you consider the team is 9-0 with the current line up, the only differences being Mule -Malts due to injury! Don't fix what isn't broken!!!!

dr_lobster 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 For real. Unless (and yes, we have to get there first) Babcock has evidence in front of him that the current lineup isn't working, there's no reason whatsoever to shake things up. Trying to preempt Pittsburgh's for Philly's lineup isn't the right move.

Opie 308 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 A good rule of thumb is to remember that when your team is in a comfort zone you try to leave it there, it is the job of the other team to take you out of your comfort zone. Basically Detroit wants to make whomever they play change their game, which would give Detroit the advantage and vice versa. So why would Babs help the competition by taking his team out of the zone they are in. The team could seriously be 12-2 in the post season, Babs made a change yes, when the team was 2-2 and not looking comfortable, now the team appears to be firing on all cylinders, WHY ON EARTH CHANGE THAT?!?!?!?!!??!!? Graybeard 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 Keep everything the same until there's a problem. If they start to score on us too much then split Z and D so one can neutralize Crosby and one can take care of Malkin.

10 Minute Misconduct 104 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 Don't get ahead of yourself, one more win to get there. I think we can get a head of ourselves. There not coming back from 0-3 let's be realistic here. Anyways, we need Franzen pretty badly next round. Without Franzen our second line is almost non-exsistent, and on top of that he can shadow and defend against malkin if babs plays our 2nd line against theres.
