DallasStars 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 Well, I didnt get to see alot of this game( i had to work). I listened to the first and some of the 2nd. And then watched the third. We took advantage of our opportunities. Finally. Our penalty kill played how I would expect them to and our powerplay wasn't so dead this time around. It took an amazing effort on our part to pull of one win. We're beginning to win some of the smaller battles of a game and it's adding up. Faceoffs are getting better, puck possession has increased and the tempo was what we would like it to be. The goal that was waved off should have been a goal. I wont argue that. But, I can also see the "makeup" call for the goal that shouldn't of counted but did a couple of games ago. Our best players had to be our best players tonight and they were. Morrow, Modano, Zubov, Robidas...all played very well. And again, a forgotten player on our team is Toby Peterson. I was pleased with the effort he gave as well. 6-on-3. Man that was exciting to watch. I expected you guys to score but we hung tough. Ott was physical with Holmstrom and as a Stars fan you gotta like that. We dont really have the size or strength to get him out from infront of Turco so we have to be a lil scrappy. If there are any compaints to him basically laying on Holmstrom....it's what anyone in the NHL would have done. Even your team. All in all, it was just one game. It doesnt have me seeing Stanley Cups in my dreams, but it does make me look forward to game 5. All along i've been saying if we play well on special teams we will have a chance to win. A small chance but a chance nonetheless. Who knows. If we go into JLA and pull out a win, in my mind this is a whole new series. But, obviously thats a MUCH harder task than it sounds. Heres to making a series out of this thing.

I agree, the goal earlier in the series should have been waved off. It was the wrong call but you move on. There shouldnt be any make up call a couple games later. Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 (edited) I don't think either goal should have been waived off. Unless you're physically impairing a goaling from moving a part of his body to make the save (like an arm), it shouldn't matter if you're in the crease or not. But whatever, what's done is done. Props to the stars, they came out with thier backs against the wall and played way harder than us. Lets hope we come out harder on saturday. Vincanni 1 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 This was a Stars team I recall from the second round. They played really well. We'll see how they can keep the momentum going. Are you insinuating the Stars stole every game in the second round from a better team? Granted I credit Dallas with a good and valid victory tonight, goalie interference BS aside. They were miles away from dominant but took advantage of the few breaks they got late in the game and Turco was amazing. Though as a whole I believe they looked better last game, tonight if anything the Wings looked worse.
fastballspecial 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 Dallas definitely played a gutsy game. Their best game by leaps and bounds... but if this thing wasn't on a silver platter then I'll be damned.
MississippiWing 14 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 I haven't been surprised at all. The first game kinda caught me off guard. It seem like Dallas was like the little boy that complains to mom and gets what he wants. Everything in game 3 they complained about the refs gave them. Tonight seemed to be a little more of the same. It's all good. I still don't see Dallas coming back, because with 2 of the 3 games left at the Joe, the Turco voodoo is gonna come back sometime. I was actually surprised to see Modano get that call at the end. I thought for sure they would just wave it off <------------------Insert Laugh Here
DallasStars 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 I like the line-up we went with. We mixed things up a little and took out Conner and put in Barch(our Mccarty or Downey, but not that skilled of a fighter). Not to mention the shake up for with some of our forwards. It seemed to have kicked us a little in the right direction.

DallasStars 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 Yeah. I mentioned him in my OP. He's efforts make a difference. They dont always show up on the score sheet, but teams need players like him. He creates situations that are for the good more often than for the bad. I like him. Also he has one helluva playoff beard.

DallasStars 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 Well a few hours ago there was talk of sweeping. Every game your gonna say is our last and every game im gonna say I hope it's not.
WiNgSowN 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 Your boy Peterson gave us our goal he tried a blind behind the back bass and Dats intercepted it and found Hank streaking in on the left and he buried it I know it was just one bad play and nobody's perfect but thats the kind of mistakes that cost your team so I wouldn't say he had a great game. DallasStars 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 (edited) Never said he played "great". I used "good" and "i liked his effort". I see what you're sayin though. I didnt see you guys score and they didnt roll the highlight back far enough to see his mistake. Im still pleased with his play as of late. Edit: Also, that move of Datsyuk's in your avatar should be downright illegal haha. TOO good. Edited May 15, 2008 by DallasStars

No, i actually think it will be an end. Dallas played there best game and still got heavily out shot. Considering Detroit sleep walked through the first half of the game (up until the non-goal call), i don't see Dallas winning another.
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 (edited) The "Stars" were aligned against Detroit tonight. Everyone wanted Dallas to win this one (the Dallas team, the refs, the league, hell even The Wings themselves at times looked they they wanted Dallas to win the game) I personally couldn't be more thrilled about the loss. Some pre-finals adversity for the Wings. They looked like they were going to float their way to a championship. We all know that doesn't happen. I haven't seen the post game presser yet but I'm sure Babcock will be using the word "engage" a lot when he talks about game 5. edit:spelling Edited May 15, 2008 by rick zombo
Coolio Mendez 7 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 Good game, your team came out with fire. Played with everything they had left and gave the Wings a run for there money. Heres to a good game 5!

Graybeard 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 Is it just me or did Sammy really blow goats last night? He was turning the puck over at both blue lines. Should have been benched early but it seemed like he got a lot of ice time.
