There is a moron living deep in frozen alberta and obviously he has way too much free time and with access of keyboard and internet. The result? this true gem of article where he claims Zetterberg 'obstructed' Crosby on that 5-3 PK.

You know I was so dumbfounded I read it twice to just make sure if this guy forgot to put the sarcastic ninja at the end. Here is just a taste of his brilliance.

Detroit ace Henrik Zetterberg laid the lumber on Sidney Crosby at the side of the net, tying up his stick far before Crosby ever got the puck, thus making it next to impossible for Crosby to score when Marian Hossa put a perfect pass right on his stick, with a wide-open net staring at Crosby.

It was the kind of non-call the NHL is infamous for. Unlike any other major North American pro league, where a foul is a foul is a foul is a foul no matter what the score and what the import of the game or when it occurs in the game, the NHL's definition of a penalty constantly shifts.

It's probable that this guy spent entire last night crying on his bed thinking about his boyfriend cindy. I just scanned this guy's past articles and with another gems like 'CAN THE OILERS BE THE MANCHESTER UNITED OF HOCKEY?', this nutcase clearly needs to check himself out.

This guy is almost as big of a tube steak as Woody Paige is for the Denver Post or the Bish was for the Orange County Register.

YOU FAIL IT, LOSER.

So, it's not enough to have a 5 on 3 late in the 3rd period, we're going to complain about one stick touching another stick (no pun intended). Wow.

So, Zetterberg tying up Crosby's stick near the net just before the puck gets there is worthy of complaining, but Holmstrom getting crosschecked to the ice when the puck is along the boards or at the blue line (not in the process of being shot), is completely smart hockey? LMFAO.

I swear, the Pens fans are the biggest whiners ever, seriously. The bottom line is head to toe the wings are superior in talent, experience, and toughness. DEAL WITH IT.

Hmmm, i've played alot of hockey, and last time i checked there is absolutely nothing illegal about tying up a guys stick like that...its called defense. Pens fans might think defense is obstruction seeing as they dont see defense to much with their team....When did it become obstruction to tie up the guys stick? Every coach i have EVER had teaches you that s*** on day one. its the same in any sport to...basketball you try to tie up your guy so that he doesnt get the pass or block the passing zone. Football a corner will cover a wide reciever to get an interception or to take away a passing zone. Hockey, you tie up a guys stick or get in the passing zone so that the guy doesnt get to put a garbage goal in the net. Have to rules changed completly so that if a guy is standing right on the side of the net and wiats for a pass you cant touch try and prevent him from scoring leagally? If so, that there should be a ton of calls that Homer should be getting seeing as he gets slashed checked and bodly slammed infront of the net by every opposing player including the goalies...tell me am i wrong? or is this a legal play? Cause ive done it for years.....and never been called for it.

There is a huge difference though, Zetterberg tied up his stick which is totally legal. Crosby was in the play and Z played DEFENSE. When homer is getting bashed checked bodyslammed and thrown into the net its totally different because the other team is taking his body. Z took the stick which is totally legal as long as there is no slash....

I swear, if I hear the word obstruction one more time, I'm going to eliminate the word from the dictionary.

The Red Wings are nowhere close to doing any blatant or extreme you-know-what. If you want to take a look at a good example of you-know-what, try the 2002 Carolina Hurricane team which used the trap to death, or the Stanley Cup Finals the following year between New Jersey and Anaheim.

Pre-lockout obstructing my ass. This is nothing close to it and Penguins fans need to put a sock in it regarding this.

Forgive them, they havent played for anything of importance for about 16 years.

Everyone in the comments section did a terrific job of lambasting the guy, so I wont bother. But I will say this:

Huh, wha? Have you watched a football or basketball game? Hell, for a recent example, did you even watch the no-call in the Spurs/Lakers series everyone is talking about? Refs, no matter what the sport, swallow the whistles - often at the end of games. They also make a lot of makeup calls, for the sake of saving face. These are human beings who err time and time again. And his whole argument is jibberish based on factual evidence to the contrary, so I have nothing more to say on this matter.

QUOTED FOR TRUTH.

And this guy sounds like from how he wrote that blurb, that he doesn't watch much basketball.

Whether or not you believe referees do such things as make up calls or intentionally swallow their whistles/let the guys play, you be the judge.

I will say this though from personal officiating experience. It was just college rec league stuff in basketball and soccer, but the people playing more often than not were competent/athletic enough and new what they were doing, and the game tempo was still pretty fast. It's still hard to officiate a consistent game even on that lower level. You're going to miss calls and make bad calls, it's not going to be perfect. I made my fair share of bad ones. Basically the point is, is that it is difficult for the referees and that both teams in any game will probably get their fair share of bad calls/no-calls in a game.

This is just more proof that the Pens and their fans have never faced a good team and can't deal with loosing. The don't know what else to do but complain and make up buzz words like "obstruction" to make them feel better. I find it quite amusing myself :)
