WingingIt 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 nobody said Franzen isnt a great player, or anything of that nature. what was said, was that he f***ed up a clear AGAIN. if lilja f***ed something up everyone would be all over him. so franzen needs to held accountable. and i didn't say anybody said he was a horrible player, i just think it's dumb to point at a game and say it's one players fault, franzen messed up but so did a lot of other players...huds in the box for 4 min for example, or maybe we should blame the players who didn't score while we were on a power play, or osgood for every goal that went in. boo hoo he missed a clear let's cry about it and ignore the fact that he scored a bunch of goals throughout the playoffs, get over it. HUFF. Anyways lets just cheer all of our wings on next game, and not worry about who did what last game. This way we just get to watch more hockey!
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 We could find a reason to blame almost anyone on the team - how about someone hit the EN once in awhile? Anyhow, I will agree it was a botched clearing attempt - maybe Babs will think about it and not put Franzen out there for the 6-5s etc... Looking forward - Go Wings in 6! Hank had a chance at the empty net, but didn't even aim for it. I've definitely lost confidence in this team's ability to hold on to a 1 goal lead when the other team pulls their goalie. Yet, we haven't even come close to scoring in the playoffs when we've had to pull our goalie, in the several occasions that it has happened. Too many guys standing around, and as already mentioned, a bad goal given up by Ozzie.

Wow, that is a totally reasonable response. One of very few. And to think, I haven't even gone so far as to suggesting maybe not putting him out there in that situation. All I wanted to do was ***** about how had he cleared that puck, we'd all be going nuts still.
Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted June 3, 2008 (edited) and i didn't say anybody said he was a horrible player, i just think it's dumb to point at a game and say it's one players fault, franzen messed up but so did a lot of other players...huds in the box for 4 min for example, or maybe we should blame the players who didn't score while we were on a power play, or osgood for every goal that went in. boo hoo he missed a clear let's cry about it and ignore the fact that he scored a bunch of goals throughout the playoffs, get over it. Hudler's penalty? Doesn't happen if Franzen clears the puck, you see we wouldn't have played OT so...........duh And the argument that you can't pick on Franzen without picking on the powerplay and other earlier events is so redundant and elementary. Any fool can say, "well, had we scored on that other power play we'd have been up 4-2 so it wouldn't have mattered if Franzen didn't clear the puck". To reiterate, any ******* idiot can make that argument. Plays happen and then they are gone, some have a direct effect on the outcome, some less and some zero. Not scoring on a power play or missing a shot wide of the net, you can't nitpick all that s***. What you can nitpick is a specific play at a specific time that is so utterly crucial that ******* it up absolutely cost you a game. Did Franzen lose that game for us. No, we had 3 more periods of hockey to try and win it. The fact that we didn't I lay at all the players feet. But the game was won in regulation and Franzen personally had the biggest role in that goal being scored. Again, just my opinion. PS: After re reading what I just wrote I can understand the confusion some of you might have. Don't worry, not everyone can "get" what i'm saying. ehorn3 2 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 Lay off the Mule without him we are not at this point. Once again Thank you Franzen for the OT winner in game five of round one, and the other 13 goals.
10 Minute Misconduct 104 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 -- I'm disappointed in Johan Franzen's last shift in regulation. He didn't get the puck out of the defensive zone, leading directly to Maxime Talbot's goal. Franzen had an excellent opportunity to clear the zone, but he looked like he was tranquilized. He didn't clear the zone against Anaheim last spring in a key moment. http://redwingscorner.blogspot.com/ I hate to single out an individual, but Johan Franzen made a poor clearing attempt while in his own zone, which was retrieved by Sidney Crosby along the boards and the rest is history. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=15558 Atleast some people agree with me

Does it validate your very-pointless crusade to find someone to blame?
