Riight lets find one person and blame over 100 minutes of hockey on him. Sure Franzen could have cleared that puck but Kronner coulda have not roofed it on Osgood, Rafalski could have skated harder to the puck on the first goal and the forwards could have scored on one of there many great chances in the OT's. Its a team loss. This thread is stupid.

Kronner was going off the boards but shot it off Hall's leg and went in.

One play doesn't win the game just as one play doesn't lose it. I bet you $1 that if you rewind 30 seconds before that, you could find another something where someone made a mistake that wouldn't have even led to Franzen needing to clear the puck. Which is the precise reason why it makes no sense to even harp on about it. You win as a team and you lose as a team. I am sure Hudler will have a hard time finding sleep tonight, these kinds of penatlies will, quite literally, kill you.

I'd agree with that. However, the game was won. If Franzen clears that puck the Pens have to clear the zone. They'd have re entered the zone with just a handful of ticks left.

Bottom line is the score was 3-2 and that clear would've sealed the deal. He failed to clear and we had to play 3 more periods of hockey that should've never existed.

This isn't a lynch Franzen thread. He's been fantastic. But that was one of the costliest non clears I can ever recall.

I would be more inclinded to say...Dear Franzen, why didn't you put one of those awesome chances you had in?

Of course I could say the same about Sammy, or Helm, or Flip, Dats...if you miss that many chances in OT you just won't win.

Am i mistaken or did Helm not put that first goal in?

Blaming one player is ridiculous.

I agree 100%

You can not completely blame the Mule for not clearing! Where was the help and coverage!

You def. Can not blame Ozzy for that 3rd goal. Yeah he didnt post up in time... Like 1 sec to get over while down on the pad...but where was the d thats suppost to cover Talbit SP? while he wacked away at the puck numerous amounts of times?

We played as a team lost as a team!

Just like we have all season.

*Heres to game 6*

you're stupid... if you wanna go be a cheerleader, go to sleep. We like to be fans and to be critical. I know Franzen knows what he did, and isn't happy about it, he will get it right next time. He has rocked in the playoffs and made a mistake. We, the fans, don't like mistakes because we cheer for our team and want our team to win. It's part of being a fan. Be a cheerleader somewhere else.

I meant his chances in OT, but yes, I believe he did score the first goal.

Nobody should be pissed AT ALL right now or blaming any one player for anything. Especially not a guy who is leading the NHL with 13 playoff goals

We lost the game and you're happy? Cool. We lost the game, and I'm upset.

Obviously blaming one player isn't fair, but just the fact that it's Franzen again with a bad clear is too ironic to be true.

He should never be out on the ice again in that situation.

Hey, you find me the NHL player that never makes a single mistake all season and I will chip in to pay him.

I don't understand being hung up on one play, it makes no sense. I guess that is why I lke Ozzie so much, he realizes that the past can't be changed and you shouldn't bother stewing over it. Franzen knows he could have cleared that better but placing blame on a single player...way to talk about a team sport.

Okay, so we're non supporters now for pointing out that again, Franzen f***ed up an easy clear. Oh, and this clear just happens to be the clear that probably would've won a Stanley Cup.

Jesus man, get off your horse already. Franzen f***ed up. We're not happy about it. Nobody wants him off the team or benched or shot. Get over yourself already. That was a Cup clinching clear right there and he didn't get it done. And as my esteemed boardie pointed out. It's ironic that its Franzen....................again.

So we win this in 6. Or 7. I don't friggin care, I know we're going to win it. But that non clear was brutal.

I'm just pissed that the Red Wings will have to win the cup on the road.

Yes, Franzen should have cleared that out of the zone but do we become the same old stupid and annoying Red Wings Fan and just s*** on our players for their mistakes. Everyone makes a mistake. Franzen is still the man and everyone should ******* know it lol.

My brother and I both said after the 2nd OT that this seems like the typical upset Red Wings game. Detroit just simply dominated the game in every aspects and totally kills the team with Shots On Goal and Time on Attack and yet the other team always manages to get some lucky break and win. I had a feeling and knew that after the 2nd OT the Red Wings were going to get some bad luck and end up losing this game.

Screw everyone who hates on players after a loss as if they are the worst players in the game. Watch next game when Ozzy makes a big save and Franzen scores a huge goal ... you will be back to loving them.

Treat your team and players like a true fan ... stick with them till the end, through the bad and the good.

GO WINGS GO!

That gust of wind that just blew over your head. Well, nevermind. Yeah, we're all baggin on Franzen b/c of his s***tiness through the first 3 rounds.

Get a clue. He f***ed up a relatively easy play that would've had us all celebrating another Cup. There is no hockey to be played if Franzen clears that puck. Series ends if Franzen clears that puck. We'll move on and so will Mule. But people can certainly criticize that play considering how important it was.

I didn't know it was hating on a player to point out a monumental f*** up they made?

I've never read that fan's rulebook before so I don't know where it says you can't point out the shortcomings or bad plays by players.

And i've never read that by pointing out somebody's mistake, that you're hating them.

I agree. I think Franzen is going to be really good in Game 6. Hell, he was pretty good tonight. Nobody seemed to be clicking that great. Dats looked good to me and Hank looked pretty good. Flip was probably the most consistent. Franzen will be fine and so will the Wings. But that was still one hell of a s***ty play.

This thread is dumb, Franzen is a great player and hockey is a TEAM sport, you can't blame a loss on any one player. I'd prefer to blame it on the referee' s ass which was in the way...but that's just me<_< It was a hard fought game from both sides, we'll get em next game.

nobody said Franzen isnt a great player, or anything of that nature. what was said, was that he f***ed up a clear AGAIN. if lilja f***ed something up everyone would be all over him. so franzen needs to held accountable.

You've done this dance long enough to know that the "bonehead play threads" that show up right after a loss they comes off as a hate thread... and now you're arguing about it's hate thread status?

The Dali lama, the pope, and Mother Teresa could make a comment that it was a bonehead play and it will still be taken as a hate thread.

What you say is true. But what I think is even more surprising than the thread that points out somebody's major screw up, is that there are still people who equate criticism for hatred.

Franzen screwed up? Oh, OK. Well, let's deduct this goal from the thirteen he has scored in these playoffs. Now he is merely tied for the playoff lead in goals.

By the same logic, I guess Kronwall now has -1 goals. He sure does suck.
