arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 I will look for a link, but did anyone watch Conan tonight? He was discussing how NBC pushed back programing simply to keep the overtime's running. And how his show didnt get to air till' 2:30 in the morning ... yada-yada-yada ... ... but the most hilarious part, he said ... "Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals between the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Pirates." Truth is, I'm not sure not sure I should actually laugh, seeing as how it simply shows a lack of knowledge of our sports premier event. But still. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

He immediately corrected himself after saying Pirates, apologized and then joked about being drunk, a joke he reiterated later after making another mistake (I actually counted three of them in the opening segments, he was definitely off tonight.) He also always congratulates the winner of the cup on the show and got pretty into hockey from what I remembered pre-lockout at least. Conan would even have the a guy dressed as the Stanley cup pop on from time to time as a re-occurring character. He obviously meant no disrespect and above all else is a comedian, remember Leno picking on the Lions? I do, and I thought it was pretty funny back the and still do now. One of the lines was that this years contenders for the cup are the "Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburg Flyers, and a team from Dallas, TX." It was hilarious.
