Sundin should choose wings and like at most 3-4M$ if he wanna win the cup.. I dont think he cares about the money at all, he just wants the cup so he can retire in peace :)

most elite teams with a chance to win Stanley Cup next year will be right at or near cap max.

A team with the best to win cup next year with horde of Swede has a room for him at about 6 mil.

It's his choice

The Maple Leafs were near the cap max last season. They weren't even close to the playoffs.

...and the Wings weren't even close to capped.

Also, I would expect Z to get $7M+/year to lock him up long term.

What does that have to do with what Yemack was saying?

His point was that the teams that are Cup contenders next year don't have room under the cap to add Sundin unless he takes a *major* paycut, where as the Wings are stacked with Swedes and have the room to add him (for next year only) without getting in cap trouble.

Hossa almost singlehandedly made this an epic series -- and he did it with class. More than ever, I'd love to see him on the Wings.

But he's going to be asking for a s***load of money, and I think it's safe to say management has no intention of bringing in any new big names in the offseason.

Agreed.....this will be an offseason of locking up the core. There won't be any Rafalski-type moves. Forget about how far under the cap we were this season - next season, with the raises already signed for and the ones yet to be addressed, even with the cap going up the Wings will be much closer to it.

If Kenny could find a way to keep this team intact and still add Sundin.....god, I'd probably slobber all over myself and make a fool of myself in a computer lab the way I did when he signed Brett Hull. It'd be a dream. But it's too unlikely to be worth anticipating.
