Major role in 08 cup = schneider and bertuzzi

Kind of interesting that we were the defending champs when we acquired Schneider, and then never won again. He goes to the current defending champs, and they lose in the 1st round, just like 2003. We've won back-to-back Cups in our non-Schneider seasons.

That's really weird Poor Schenids, never had anything against him. Bertuzzi on the other hand...what a tool.

Speaking of Lang, I heard on XM that he's all but gone from the Hawks.

This is for another time and another thread, but the Hawks are wanting to be major players in free agency and perhaps pick up a name through trades. I think they will be our major competitor in the Central next season.

Btw the people that said that some ppl on the forum were dying to get these 2 signed so they can return with us ... well you are right ... i wanted really badly to re-sign these two.

Let me explain when schneider left to the Ducks, while I'm at it let me define who the Ducks are for the fans that still haven't realised yet

(Just for the record, Rafalski > Schneider (much better) and thk god we signed him)

Anaheim Ducks = Nhl Team = Official Rivals of the Detroit Red Wings (Since 03 - Present) two times this club screwed our chances for a legimate chance to win the cup, they embarrassed us after a cup win. Basiclly this team is probably the team hated by most wings fans. Who do 99.99% of the fans hate on this forum = Chris Pronger ... we use to hate him when he was with st. louis and we still hate him.

So what happens when two of the players that you actually like decide to turn their back on you for a bit more $$$ to leave to your rival team + hope to win the cup with them ...

So that is why i officialy don't like bert or schneids as of that day, their not on the wings ... they are the ennemie, as long as their not on the red wings they are AGAINST US meaning their just 1 of the other member of the other teams wich our on the way between the cup and us ...

So it really feels good to see bertuzzi and schneids ditching us ... and then us winning the cup

You ppl might say what about shanny ... ya his the ennemy also but let's keep in mind he didn't go to a present rival team as bert schneids and feds

And why don't i bring up lang or williams in the subject wich they went to chicago ... well for starting chicago are getting better but lang and williams let's all be honnest we didn't want them back

Detroit and Nashville rivalry > Detroit and Chicago Rivalry

Predaturds vs Wings does not top the tradition the Wings and Hawks have. Not even close. Go to You Tube, look up the names Probert, Kocur and watch how many of their fights are against the Hawks. They used to be wars, and with the talent the Hawks are adding to their team, its on the way to being that again. They will pass the Predaturds next season in the standing, barring injuries to the Hawks.

I completly agree with you, but i was talking about the present and yes they are going to be much better then preds no doubt. And I am aware of the history between hawks and wings

Schneider was always a stand up guy, and wouldn't mind him coming back for way cheap . But what the f*** did Lang sacrafice his edonis(sp) like body?

Anyone who bags on Lilja should stop a minute and go watch Rob Scuderi open the floodgates to let any Red Wing who felt like it take the puck right at Fleury untouched, and sometimes hand them the puck to let them skip the task of going to get it first. God was he brutal.

I wanted Bert and Schneider back...in hind site it is better that they moved on. I like Schneider a lot and I think that if you replace Raf for Schneider we still win the cup...but Raf wants to be here...Schneider didn't. As far as Bert goes he was a nice enough guy in his short time with the Wings and he did want to play in Detroit but in the end he went for the paycheck and I can't say I blame him. His value will probably go to the cellar after this contract is up. As previously mentioned some of our younger guys stepped up and really filled that physical gap. As for Lang...he played a few good years with Detroit and is still a good player...there just wasn't room for him at 4 million. Not even at 3 million. Now for 2.5 Million I might think about Lang and his clutch playoff goals the problem is who do you take out???

In all seriousness though I was upset in the beginning to see both of them go.

First with Schneider. He was a good offensive-defenseman obviously for the Wings during his years there. And I learned in the beginning that signing Rafalski to replace him was a good thing, but honestly before the season started I knew very little about Rafalski's game. Thankfully, advantage turned out for Detroit here.

I was pretty excited that the Wings made a trade for Bertuzzi last season at the deadline. I get the whole "Moore-Bertuzzi" incident, I don't care to debate it now, I was just curious to see what Bertuzzi could do on the ice and was well past the "incident". Even though he served up a pretty disappointing playoffs overall last year, I would have definitely not minded re-signing him for at most roughly $2M a year because he was once a dominating power forward but was (or is) a health risk at the time. I certainly don't blame him for wanting to take more money elsewhere as he did this season, but thankully that advantage went to the Wings again since Bertuzzi underperformed this season overall I think for Anaheim.

And actually, we 3-upped Anaheim. We took Mark Hartigan away from Anaheim as well!

What Anaheim/Detroit rivalry? They play each other hard, and have had some good games against each other over the last few years, but I'm pretty sure this rivalry only exists in the heads of some people on this board.
