MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted June 10, 2008 "Dallas wanted to keep me, but it is over now," the 36-year old Swede was quoted as saying on the newspaper's website. "I promised myself 10 years ago that I would quit while I still had a strong position in the team. And now it is over." http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2008/06/10/...orstrom_retire/
JeeSpot82 10 Report post Posted June 10, 2008 He was a hell of a hockey player and looked pretty decent through the Wings series - and he was obviously a great leader, having been a captain before. I'm baffled he's thinking CARPENTRY as his next role, but good for him - I wish him luck with whatever he does from here out.
Anomalously 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2008 If he likes [carpentry], why not? He's got enough money to start his own business, he's fairly young, he needs some additional income. He had a good career. Good Western Conference styled defenseman.
martyrme19 73 Report post Posted June 10, 2008 a part of me always wanted the wings to pick him up. I always thought he'd be the perfect player to fit the role that stuart is currently filling.

If I'm not wrong informed Holmstrom were a (perhaps part-time) carpenter before playing in the NHL. Good riddance Matty, you should be proud of your career Edited June 10, 2008 by Wingman
