other way around

Actually despite being both powerplay specialists with decent defensive ability, their game is completly diffirent.

Schieners main weapon is his shot, a real boon to anyones power play, whereas Campell can work much better 5v5 carrying the puck up the ice with his mobility

He's a poor man's Schneider

Campbell is an improvement over Schneider in most ways. It was pathetic enough seeing Schneider get 5.75. Now I can see Campbell pulling 7 million easy.

Considering the Grand Canyon-sized gap there is between Lidstrom and Campbell's talent, its kinda sad.

On the bright side, San Jose is back to having big holes on defense.

There seems to be alot of chatter that Kubina will end up in SJ once the two week window he can be traded kicks in soon, since he was going to be dealt there during the deadline and he rejected it.

Assuming that's the case than SJ would have Kubina, Vlasic, Murray, Rivet, Erhoff (sp and rfa i think), carle and Mclaren (although he may be going the other way in the Kubina trade)

If that is the case, than how will SJ fit Stuart into the mix? Kubina, Vlasic, Murray, Rivet, Erhoff (assuming he will be signed and he will) is a solid top-5, and even assuming that they move Carle (a big if) and McLaren is traded, can SJ really spend what Stuart will need??

I'm not saying he'll resign here (I am becoming more doubtful by the day as well) but if the Kubina deal goes down, and many people, including the Hockey News, think it will, than where does Brad fit there?

Stuart is 27, and he's won the Cup. It's time to get paid!

Even if this is the case that Brad Stuart departs, I am not real heart broken about the thought. I was never really sold on this guy. I just felt he was brought here to help fill a temporary hole in the D during the middle of the season. I think he is a hell of a partner to Kronwall, and defenitly made Kronner look great, but I feel like Sturat was a little bit of a liability in these past playoffs. I almost feel as if this team has enough liability in playing Lilja, Lebda, and Cheli. They all have done well in certain games, and I like them, but they trouble me at times. I don't think Stuart is worth what he thinks he is. My opinion is, let SJ or Anaslime over pay him. I would take my chances with another good trade bringing in a solid D man willing to play for less and playing with a contender every year like the Wings. That or bring up a guy from GR.

San Jose are going to be terrible with Campbell next year. He's their only top 4 defenceman on the whole team. I expect to see Hainsey in a Sharks uniform next year.

Campbell didn't really do anything when he played in San Jose, though. In his time there, the Sharks had another historic month of March, which means nothing, but once again flailed in the playoffs. Campbell was terrible, especially in the Dallas series, so it's not like he really came to play.

I never really thought much of him anyways, so I hope he doesn't end up here.

I think that Stuart is gonna walk, and that Lilja will probably be gone too. That would seem to mean Erricson and Meech/Quincey come up? I don't see much D out there that can help replace our big, stay at home guys (the only two on the team).

Dave Pollak just posted on his blog:

"Just got off the phone and will post more later, but Doug Wilson is totally denying the report on the Ottawa Sun blog site that Brian Campbell has told the Sharks he will not be returning. Wilson said he talked with Campbell today and is having dinner with agent Larry Kelly tonight, and that negotiations are continuing.

“Tremendously false,” Wilson called the report that Campbell had told the Sharks he would not re-sign with them.

“The accurate report is that we’ve got a scheduled discussion on this negotiation tonight and tomorrow. Nothing has changed that.”
