YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 23, 2008 The Wings are all about second chances, but they're smart enough to do it on bargain basement prices. With people who generally want to turn things around. I'm not sure Emery's there yet. Being waived is the first step to being bought out. The Sens will buy him out and then someone will sign him to around 1M or so, probably for only 1-2 years. The more I think about it, the more I really wouldnt mind him being signed to a one year deal around 800k. If he falls into line under the leadership of guys like Babs and Cheli, he could become a huge asset. And if he doesnt, then hes got a tradeable and/or waivable contract. Kenny did say he was looking for players looking to sign one year deals...I guess it all depends on whether or not Emerys ego is hurt by being waived, bought out, and essentially unwanted. Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted June 24, 2008 There's no point to picking up emery other than to prevent him from going somewhere else. Jimmy is getting a spot on the roster this year, and will be playing at least some. I doubt management is even worried about goaltending until the deadline. At the deadline they will look at how Jimmy has done and pick up a rent-a-vet if they are unhappy.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted June 24, 2008 He is definitely talented between the pipes, young, and has the capability to be a solid number one with "game-stealing" skills. But if it came down to taking a player who's attitude is their biggest weakness (which, lets face it, no locker room can handle more than one of those), I would take Sean Avery over him any day of the week.
