Yemack 1 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 Ive been interested in Chicago's goalie prospect. Crawford or something was his name. Maybe we can get our hands on him now?
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 WTF are they going to do with Khabi? Nobody will take that contract off his hands and if he does sign for $5.6, he and Khabi will be pulling in almost 22% of the teams' salary cap. Khabi getting cut? That's exactly what I wondered. Is anyone crazy enough to pick up Khabi and his 6.75 mill?
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 If Chicago waives Khabibulin, would Tampa pick him up on re-entry? or would someone pluck him right away?

Opie 308 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 If Chicago waives Khabibulin, would Tampa pick him up on re-entry? or would someone pluck him right away? Apparently they don't need him. They just signed Kolzig to a 1 year 1.5 deal!
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 Apparently they don't need him. They just signed Kolzig to a 1 year 1.5 deal! That could work out, he only needs to allow 3 goals or less a night and Tampa should win
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 (edited) That's exactly what I wondered. Is anyone crazy enough to pick up Khabi and his 6.75 mill? IMO, not a chance. Everyone will let him go through and then when he becomes an UFA the Blackhawks will be stuck absorbing $2.25 million on nobody. As soon as I asked the question "who would be crazy enough to take Khabi and his salary" LA immediately jumped to mind...

Well, the Kings actually have the room for it. You gotta wonder what return they'll get now that LA knows Chicago's hands are tied with the money they have tied up in goaltending. Cruiser008 37 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 (edited) ahahahaha.... Chicago seems pretty desperate to play the playoffs but their lack of patience is gonna hurt them down the road. P.S. Huet now makes more than Brodeur. LOL Edited July 1, 2008 by Cruiser008
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 Way to go chicago! Khabibulin $6.750 Huet $5.625 TOTAL: $12.375M lol Kinda what I was thinking as well. Are they really that desperate? Nothing against Huet (or I'm trying not to make it sound that way) but nearly $6 million for him just seems to be a gross overpayment. Kudos for him to get that much on the open market obviously, but still, not sure what Chicago was thinking paying big bucks for another goalie. Sure Khabibulin has underperformed overall since he's been to Chicago but as stated and quoted, the numbers paid for goalies here just don't really make much sense (*insert $8M dollar/Joseph-Hasek-Legace 2004 jokes here * ).
