NEpats1028 1 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Bring in Markus Naslund! He's a swede who is desperate to win a cup and could go for cheaper than people think cause of his inconsistancy. i know he's tied to british columbia but it'd be a great buy if the wings could somehow pull it off. jawbreaker 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Well... he still can score 50-60pts. For 2-3M for 1 year (if for 2 years, then it must be 2M) it would be good. We don't actually need him, but he won't make our team worse.

I don't know how desperate he is to win the Cup, but he can certainly light the lamp, thats for sure. I do think he'd get a little more jump outta playing with the Red Swedes and leaving the C to Lidstrom. He'd find a nice home on the second line, providing a constant second line threat. Operative word: cheap. As with Bertuzzi. Has anyone from the Canucks core group of a couple years ago been snatched up yet?

So all he does is take away time from Hudler, Filppula, Cleary, and Franzen and he does so at well over 2-3M and most certainly on a multi-year contract. YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Oh no you didn't girlfriend.... 55 points is apparently grounds for 3.5-5M on a 3-7 year contract in this market.

Hudler, Filppula (and maybe even Franzen) are as inconsistent as Naslund. But what happens, if someone of our 40pts players will have an awful year. Naslund can provide those points. His better choice than most of the forwards, who are still available. Plus, he won't have so much pressure on him: he won't be the captain, and DET is won't be expecting him to score 80 points. If he doesn't want to sign a reasonable contract, then we should/will pass him.

rage 24 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 He can still light the lamp when he wants to....just like Yzerman in his later years (not comparing their careers or anything). He'd be a great pickup if Holland signed him, because Holland would not over pay him.
T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 After watching Naslund for a few years, I can tell you one thing for certain: when he' sitting on the bench you can read his face like a book. SweWings 45 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Then you will have your wish bud....Holland would not sign him to an unreasonable deal. Agreed. I think the guy needs a fresh start on a team that actually has a functioning offense. 40-50 goals, no, 20-30, sure...

We don't actually need him, but he won't make our team worse. at < 3m/per year he would be worth a shot but as others have said there is no way naslund will accept that. he will get at least 4m/per year. kylee 727 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 this is my (now realistic) wish list. in order. 1. Sundin 2.Naslund 3.Bertuzzi id be happy with any of these signings, but of course, Sundin would rock the most.
jawbreaker 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Your going to get Naslund for $2-3 mill while people like Ryder signed for $4 mill? What did you put in your pipe tonight! What did GM's, who gave this crazy contracts, put in their pipe? 3M is fair price (at least it was), but these days guys like Sammy would probably get around 3M. Opie 308 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Your going to get Naslund for $2-3 mill while people like Ryder signed for $4 mill? What did you put in your pipe tonight! You apparently weren't paying attention when Holland signed Brad Stuart to a 4 year 3.75 mil contract on the same day Jeff Finger got a 4 year 3.5 mil deal! But the odds of Naslund taking a pay cut are as good as Stuart doing so, it is a matter of what is more important to him, the difference being Stuart had been part of the team last year, he got first hand experience of the locker room, the guys on and off the ice, he knows how the org is run from an insider's point of view. Naslund may talk to some Swedes on the team and decide it is worth it, or he may see dollars signs and decided which team is "Worth" it!
