Great. So the stupidest kid on the block thinks what we have done is good. I respect ESPN's views on hockey about as much as MTV's if they were to rank hockey deals.

So, people ***** when ESPN ignores hockey.

And, people ***** when ESPN pays attention to hockey, and even says the Wings did good.

Chicago got an A? Really? If they can trade Khabibulin to Tampa for Boyle maybe midseason if kolzig doesnt work out. That way Chicago gets a Dman and Tampa gets boyle 6.7 off the books for next season. I cant see this happening but as they say stranger things have happened and you know Khabibulin is on the way out and ive heard many times boyle is too so who knows? Obviously picks/prospects would have to be involved.

I wouldnt give the hawks an A for 3 reasons: as good as campbell is, they overpayed. They still need a top 4 dman and a top 6 forward (i feel like Lang is a 3rd or 4th liner these days) and they didnt need Huet. They didnt need to waste the cap space, they didnt need to sign another goalie to a long term especially after khabibulin turned out, and finally, overpayed in terms of dollars and years is an understatement

edit: im stupid and confused boyes and boyle.

espn also said that the wings wouldnt make it to the playoffs last season. who cares what they think

[edit: spelling]

ESPN said that or a commentator on ESPN said that? I doubt ESPN released a media communication stating that they as a company believed the Wings would not make the playoffs...

ESPN can't win with some people

As much as The Mullet allegedly hates the Wings, I have an extremely hard time believing that he'd say the Wings won't even make the playoffs.

Is there a video of this or a webpage that lists the preseason predictions? I always watch Sportscenter and I don't ever remember seeing anyone on ESPN say the Wings would not make the playoffs last year.

How can anyone ***** about ESPN ignoring hockey when they have not paid attention to it in a decade or so? Even when the had the NHL contract, it was terrible coverage and NHL tonight was usually on after poker at 1am. Basically, it is nice what they say about the Wings but who cares? Their "magazine" pretty much rips hockey when it gets the chance and they do not cover it on the air so if they say the Wings did good I would assume their analysis was probably parroting a wire story or something.

ESPN is pure EVIL. They put personality above content...I cannot even watch college game day in the falls anymore because it has gone from talking about the days games to a battle of egos. It stuns me that anyone who likes hockey and Wings would even still watch this 'network'. It kind of sucks that all the cable companies carry it in their "free" package because it usually accounts for the single largest charge out of the basic channels. I would gladly drop it in a heart beat. The NHL networks coverage of FA day was pretty cool. Not something that ESPN ever did.

Sorry, I still catch SportsCenter every night. ESPN is the king of all sports networks despite what many say. I thought ESPN's hockey coverage was great back in the day. NHL 2 Nite was cool to watch.

For ESPN to win that would require them to do something good. I pray that some day cable becomes a la carte. Then I can drop ESPN and miss nothing. I have vs., NHL network and center ice what on earth do I need ESPN for?

Oh, and if a talking head on ESPN or any network says something, unless it is specifically prefaced with the legal disclaimer, the views and opinions of this person don't reflect the views of this station...then it is really quite safe to say that ESPN said something when it was one of the talking heads speaking. So IF (a big if because I would have to see this to believe they could be so stupid) a comentator on ESPN said the Wings will miss out on the playoffs, it is perfectly legitimate to then say, ESPN says X.

Oh, and don't hate Barry for his mad on Wings hating. The Wings deserve it. After Jacques was fired, Barry was in line to be the next coach and he had had great success in Adirondak. But the Wings then go and hire Bryan "cannot win a playoff round" Murray. Melrose was passed over in favor of him. I would be pissed too.

I didn't know that ESPN cared for hockey, but thanks for the props nonetheless.

Actually, I enjoyed ESPN's coverage in the past, because out here in SoCal all you can get is Kings/Ducks. Obviously the best coverage you can get for the Wings is going to come from the local TV in Detroit, so no one will probably top that.

What would be cool would be to have a Red Wings channel on the internet covering the team so that fans from all over can get better coverage. Otherwise you're reduced to having to chase down video clips from all over the place.
