GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted August 14, 2008 I was wondering if anyone knows any site that I can go, where there is a list of all-time best NHL faceoff percentages? I don't know when the NHL began tracking faceoff statistics, but I've always wondered what Yzerman's all time faceoff percentage was, or for that matter how good Gretzky or Lemieux were on draws, since I don't remember. I'm also assuming that Yanic Perreault would be the best ever statistically. Anyway, I hope someone can help me with this.

Anyway, I speculated that the league doesn't keep career faceoff stats, but I wasn't sure if someone else knew more than me.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted August 14, 2008 All I have to say about this topic is that anyone who makes a top-five for all-time faceoff men and doesn't include Ron Francis on the list loses all credibility on the topic.

You must have misunderstood the topic. I wasn't putting together a list, I was merely asking a question about the best all-time faceoff percentages. I guess if you don't know, then no one does. Faceoff percentages certainly haven't been widely available for more than a few years. Late 90s is the first time I remember being able to actually access lists of players' percentages of faceoffs won.

toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted August 15, 2008 Yeah, if anyone knows, it's eva. I believe 1998 was the first year the stat was tracked. I know Yanic has led the league for at least the last 7 seasons in a row, coule be more.

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted August 15, 2008 I got the answer your looking for. No lilja has not ever won nor taken a face off. What about Patrick Sharp's?
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted August 15, 2008 I got the answer your looking for. No lilja has not ever won nor taken a face off. If Lilja took draws, he would just maul the opposing team's faceoff man to the ice, and we would win possession of the puck that way.
FireCaptain 563 Report post Posted August 16, 2008 Hey, if it works - don't knock the system. If Lilja took draws, he would just maul the opposing team's faceoff man to the ice, and we would win possession of the puck that way.
