Blues interested in Shanahan

Just over at http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/stl080815.html Apparently St.Louis is definetly interested in Shanny.

NJ and Philly also reportedly interested as well.

What would you think of Shanny coming back to the Central division? Does it matter that the beloved Shanny would possibly play Detroit in Detroit numerous times?

Personally I have no animosity towards him for leaving. I hate to think he would go back to the Blues though. But I would love to watch him play regularly again.

Between players like Jokinnen, Avery, and maybe Shanny, the west just keeps adding popular and talented players. I like that. I grow tired of these analysts so far up the Eastern teams asses.

He would be a great asset at this point in his career, increasing the Blues season win total from 33 to an outstanding 34.

Severe case of man-love for Shanahan. On one hand, I would love to see him play more often, instead of going out of my way to watch the Rangers. On the other hand, I would have preferred Shanny end his career with higher production or possibly with the Wings (not saying I want him back, so don't flame me for nostalgia). I don't want Shanny to end his career as a new Tkachuk.

Why not? Craig Janney is no longer there, so there won't be any uncomfortable situations to worry about. :D

Seriously, though, they suck as a team, so there's no reason for him to finish his career on a non-contending team. He better stay in New York or go to another contender.

Shanahan became my favorite player the minute he came and played for the Blues. My father has said he should return to Saint Louis since, well, since he was traded out to Hartford for a penalty loaded ego.

As much as I would love Shanny back in my hometown, I don't want him to have to finish with an organization that has no real direction, standards, or remote chance of putting anything decent out on the ice. I don't see anyone on the Blues right now that could serve up Shanahan with one timers on the power play or regular five on five. Again, the Blues have no real system or direction. The whole team is a weird collection of has-beens and never was with a promising young defenseman in Erik Johnson. Shanny would instantly return to the huge love he was given in the Gateway to the West but I rather see him enjoy a few more wins versus being out of the playoff race come New Year's.

I think it would be best if remained in New York for his last year or finish with his first team, the Devils. BTW, I'm I the only one that loves that Christmas themed Devils' sweater?

Dunno if Shanny can stoop that low - he's too classy of a guy ;)

Can't argue with that, but you know what I mean. He would need a pretty good center to set up his shot these days, and I don't think he should go to a team with no chance and instantly be their marquee player. He was on a decent tear for the Rangers his first season there, then he had that freak accident collision and when he finally got back from his concussion he hasn't been nearly as effective, save the first round series he put up in 2006-2007. Wherever he goes, I think they should at least have a good chance to make/compete in the playoffs and I hope he has an amazing last season individually. One of the games true class-acts is on his way out and the NHL will be slightly less for it.

Thank god for AO
