Blackhawks Recent Organizational Changes

With the addition of Bowman, the big splash in the free agent market this Summer and new marketing management it looks as though the Blackhawks are on the turnaround. I'm pretty impressed with the changes Rocky Wirtz has made since taking over after Bill passed away before the start of last season. On top of that, this article is a great read and hopefully the Blackhawks can return to the rival I remember loathing so much as a kid. That just makes for great hockey!

Here Come the Hawks

I love how Bobby Hull has more hair now, than back when he played.

I like the Blackhawks team, but man, their fans really annoy me.

(Interestingly, no mention of Scotty Bowman)

Oh, they drive me f*cking crazy. My wife and I always go to the Wings games at the United Center due to it only being 3 hours from Green Bay, and every time they never cease to amaze me with their inappropriate behavior and comments. I'm all for good-natured ribbing, but the stuff that comes out of the mouths of a good portion of their fan base is just beyond offsides.

I hate Blackhawks and it does not matter who is in their front-office. I hope they suck for many years to come.

I hate the Blackhawks too, but its pretty hard to have a rivalry when one team is consistently at the top of the standings while the other is a cellar-dweller.

This is a sign... there's still a glimmer of hope for the Lions!

Between the positive off-ice changes and the impressive young talent the Hawks have, they should be able to rekindle a serious rivalry with Detroit over the next couple years.

They have a good young team, but a lack of veteran presence which will hurt them in the clutch.

It's ideal to have some kind of balance, as underdog teams have shown in the past. You can't just be all youth and expect to go deep into the playoffs.

Chicago didn't do anything until Wirtz died. You're probably going to have to wait until old man Ford kicks it before you see any changes.

Worst thing about the Hawks? Their "fans", who like Penguins "fans", were mysteriously absent these last few years, drawing about what, 9,000 people to a 21,000 arena? And then whenever the Red Wings come to town, the only reason they'd go to the game is to degrade the Wings and their fans rather than cheer for the Blackhawks. With all their promotions on the scoreboard yelling "Detroit Sucks!" (even when the Wings aren't playing there), obnoxious fans who can't name 2 players on the team other than Kane/Toews, and alot of other stuff - I wouldn't mind seeing them flounder for years to come.
