toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted October 3, 2008 isnt ovi the only player in nhl history to win 4 major individual trophies? I'd say that thats gonna be really hard to accomplish this year. And as much as i hate to say it, i think crosby will be better this year. If you include the Conn Smythe, Gretzky won 4 in 1985 and had the Richard existed then, he would have won that too for #5. toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted October 3, 2008 Unless Ovechkin's leg falls off, he will be the top 3 in scoring this year and every year. I don't disagree with the opinion of Ovechkin being in the top 3 in scoring this year and every year (depending what you mean by every year), but I wouldn't say an opinion that he doesn't finish top 3 would be crazy. He's got a better chance at finishing near the top in goals than he does for points, so I wouldn't be totally surprised if he finished lower than 3 (averall, he finished 13th the year before last). egroen 384 Report post Posted October 3, 2008 ... isnt ovi the only player in nhl history to win 4 major individual trophies? Bobby Orr had probably the greatest haul ever: Norris, Hart, Art Ross and Conn Smythe in 1970 (before the Pearson)
Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted October 3, 2008 I recommend reading the article before you base your opinion off of the OP's bullets. Some important quotes that would be useful, btw I hate Cherry! Statistically Don is probably right, bagging back to back 60 goal seasons is pretty rare. However, Don talking about people marking him or watching him more is laughable. It's like AO just stepped onto the scene last season or something. What NHL coach and team hasn't focused on AO since his first ******* NHL shift? Don makes it seem like he's freaking Brad Boyes or something. Hey Don: 52 goals, 46 goals, 65 goals. Me thinks he's going to get the same amount of attention he's gotten since day one. Duh.
