Parking at the Joe!

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Hello all its me again asking silly questions :D I'm going to the Joe next week for games against the Canucks and Rangers. I've been there before around 2004 and I remember parking on the street across from the joe, then walking pass a school or some kind of building and across a bridge to the Joe. (Sorry bad memory) my question was, can you still do that? If not what other decent options are there that are cheap or free. I know its not that safe walking around the joe out towards the city but if I'm not putting myself in danger I don't mind the inconvience of walking a little ways to the Joe if it means free parking :)

Thanks

-Pat

There's no such thing as free parking. You can park around the streets for free then worry about break-ins. Cobo is $10, JLA is $20. I suppose if you park at a casino and don't gamble, you could go for free. Most have buses.

I have been parking on the street for years and have never ever had a problem. You just have to be smart, not like some stupid assholes, don't leave your valuables out in plain site. Lock them in the trunk. I park on Rosa Parks, thats the street leading to the Joe, behine and next to the post office. I also park on Fort street around the post office. Just get there early because they go fast. Otherwise the joe garage and cobo are decent spots for a price.

Thanks alot everyone for your input :D I think thats what I did last time i was at the Joe. I remember parking on the street walking past a building going over a concrete bridge and coming to the front of the Joe, I'll prob go with that option. Thanks guys :)

Millender Center off Larened. Ten dollar parking, if you park on the 5th floor your just 20 feet from the People Mover. It's 2 stops from the Joe, but the ride back they pack like 60 people in there, so I just walk the River Front threw the Ren Cen back. It was nice when the People Mover went the other way, even though the ride going there was long, the ride back you weren't stuck on there with 60 over people for to long.

you can park for free on the street along the river however I can't guarantee that you'll have a passenger side window when you return... trust me, I know from experience.... :ranting: the worst mistake ever!

Next time we'll just pay the $15 to park in an enclosed area. Or, just take the shuttle from Hockeytown cafe to the Joe.

I park on the street all the time. No problems. Just lots of trash and booze bottles. I refuse to pay $20 to park in the garage. You can also park at alot of the bars and they have free shuttles. Hoots on Michigan has free parking and shuttle. They are right by Tigers Stadium.

When I went to a playoff game against the Avs this past spring, I paid $10 and parked in a Greektown parking lot and took the People Mover.

I usually try to be Captain Johnny on the Spot when it comes to saving dollars, but when I'm not completely familar with my surroundings, no matter what/where the city is, I'm not parking on city streets in a downtown area. I'm going to pay a little extra to be in a decent parking lot or a parking garage.
