If the cap should decrease the Wings would still probably have enough room to use Hossa's salary to re-sign Z and Franzen. Hudler (although restricted FA) and Sammy may be SOL. Some of the older players like Draper, Maltby and Chelios would probably be gone and youngster like Leino, Helm, Abdelkader and Ericsson would probably be on the regular roster. And, of course, no chance to re-sign Hossa.

Theres no reason to worry over this. The Wings have plenty of options.

All the players that are signed for the next couple years are signed with today's salary cap in mind. Those players are still going to be making that next year, even if the cap goes down. All the free agents next year would be getting shafted, because a) they're going to want to be paid with the same scale as everyone else and b) the league overall will have less money to spend on all the free agents which means more folks migrating to the khl.

The value of the Cdn dollar has decrease by about 15% in the past year, I think that will have a real impact on the cap, before you even consider otehr economic factors.
