redwings8831 40 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 I was watching some of the Canucks/Ducks shootout that just went 13 rounds and then found the site below which has a ton of stats for every possible thing related to shootouts over the last three/four seasons. The most interesting part of the site is that they have a "What If" section, which compares the final conference standings each year with and without shootouts. All of the differences with shootouts are in the east except one, which was if there were no shootouts in the 05/06 season, the Canucks would have finished 8th in the West, thus eliminating the Oilers, who knocked out the Wings and eventually made the finals. chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 This game was painful ot watch, 21 freaking penalties, what a joke, the Ducks are a joke. 260 PIM in 12 games = 21.67 PIM per game. #1 in the league. This is insane. Incidently Wings 127 PIM / 11 games = 11.
Barrie 900 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 Hey if there were no shootouts, we would have won the Presidents Trophy in 06-07 and the Leafs would have made the playoffs. Interesting stuff. :wow:

Incidently Wings 127 PIM / 11 games = 11.55 That is a ton of penalties for the Wings to be getting, that is all minor penalties. The Ducks are close to us when you take 5 min majors out of it, that's just crazy.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 Aren't the Wings like thrid worst in the league when it comes to penalties? Uncharacteristically undisciplined this season so far.
