russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted November 16, 2008 I'm not sure how many players the Wings already have on their 50 man roster, but I truly hope they sign Francis Pare before somebody else scoops him up. Pare signed an entry level deal with the Grand Rapids Griffins, and he has 4 goals and 3 assists in 7 games. I can't remember where but I read an article saying he missed out on the draft due to work ethic, but that he has improved that and is playing hard every night. Could be a good kid to bring in in the next year or two because starting next year the Wings need to rebuild a bit due to cap constraints.
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted November 16, 2008 Agreed. Kid is doing a marvelous job in Grand Rapids and after starting the season as a healthy scratch he now seems to be a permanent fixture in the team and is putting up the points including scoring the GWG last night. The Mule 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2008 He has been impressive, but there isn't a chance in hell he'd crack our lineup in even the next 2-3 years. Not only do we have young talent already stationed in Detroit, such as Filppula, Hudler, Kopecky, and so on, but we have a stockpile of young guns waiting in our system that are most certainly ahead of Pare on the depth chart (Helm, Leino, Abdelkader, etc.)

Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted January 1, 2009 18 points in 19 games. I think the Wings should sign him before someone else does...
bellarina 1 Report post Posted January 26, 2009 I've seen him play for years now. He is amazing. Someone mentioned that it wouldn't be for 2-3 years before he cracks the Red Wings, he may surprise you yet. At the moment he has 27 points in 30 games, thus he has the highset point per game avg in GRs. Red Wings aren't taking a chance on him, they know something. Guest mindfly Report post Posted January 26, 2009 I can see like 5 players in the Griffins who could play in the NHL, I almost feel sorry for them... Ritola, Helm, Ericsson etc they all deserve to play in wings... and I got very high hopes for Kindl, hope he can be a top2 defenseman.
titanium2 867 Report post Posted January 27, 2009 I wouldn't feel sorry for them because I don't think they would want you to feel sorry for them. They'll eventually get to play for the greatest organization in hockey today in the Red Wings. I understand that it sucks that they're not part of the team right now and whatever but I think (especially for guys like Ericsson and Kindl who say that the Red Wings were their favorite team growing up), that they know they have to make the sacrifice in order to live their dream and it's difficult but deep down I don't think they mind it all that much. Do drafted but unsigned count? If not, I'd offer Pare before final roster day ...just in case. If he stays hot, he'd be a good Black Ace for the playoffs. Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 The kid is putting up amazing numbers for his rookie season. 15 goals (2nd), 30 points (6th) +/- 17 (1st). He's just 21 years of age. Surely we'll sign him?
GROwl 5 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 He's just 21 years of age. Surely we'll sign him? I sure hope so. He's a kids not only with a lot of potential and talent himself, but he has that ability to make everyone around him better too.
bellarina 1 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 I sure hope so. He's a kids not only with a lot of potential and talent himself, but he has that ability to make everyone around him better too. When he played at charlemoyne here in montreal he played with eric deschamps who of course got drafted even though Pare was way better. Deschamps has said many times that Pare made him into a star.
