The Mule 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2008 Ignoring the fact that it's not even December yet, wins are wins, and a loss is a loss. Atlanta were undefeated for five straight games, does that make them a better team than the Canadiens or Bruins? No, it does not. You need to lighten up and realize a point is a point, no matter who you get them against and who you lose them to, especially this early into the season. The Mule 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2008 We could easily wind up playing the Canucks in round one. They've beaten us twice already, we haven't beaten them at all yet. Memories of first round dismissals. Just saying... Yes, we have. We beat the Canucks 3-2 on November 2nd in Vancouver. Do your research.

An OT loss in the playoffs is not a point, its one step closer to a tee time. OK, BFG, I forgot about that 1 goal game. My point is, the Cancks have a lot of tenacity and they are now gaining confidence against the Wings. Its a ligitimate concern, whats with the attitude? Memories of first round dismissals. Just saying... We didn't have a great record against Calgary in 06/07. I think our record against Nashville was at like .500 if that, as well. Playoffs tell a different story.

chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted November 28, 2008 Sure we all know that something just isnt clicking this year---- but has anyone really looked at our record and realized that we have LOST to just about every "Cup contending" team this year? Even the games we have WON against decent teams, they area all 1 goal games. We have LOST to Anaheim, San Jose, Pittsburgh, and Montreal. We beat NYR by a slim margin. The Wings cant expect to win the Cup again if they cant compete with the high level teams. I know the season is only 1/4 old, but its starting to be a trend and not a fluke. We lost to Aneheim the first of 4 games we play them on a controversial goal in OT. We will play them 3 more times. We lost to San Jose after having played the Duckies the night before and the 3rd game in 4 days. We will play them 3 more times. We lost to Pittsburgh by letting them back in the game after thoroughly dominating them for 2 1/2 periods. We play them again in December. We lost to Montreal on the night back from a 10 day western Canadian road trip. And we beat the Rangers in the only game that we play them. You are making to much of it. Wait until we play the Duckies 3 more times, the Sharks 3 more times and Pittsburgh again, then make your comparison.
LeftWinger 5,152 Report post Posted November 29, 2008 ...I think more so, that the deceiving "Bad" record the Wings have is that dreaded third period. Nearly all of the wins the Wings have, they have blown a 2 or 3 goal lead in the third and had to hold on or win it in OT or Shootout. Of course coming out on top is always good and a win is a win, but lets hope it's gets out of their system before April. Better to have troubles now, than to flop on your face in the playoffs. Look at last February, if that would have happened in October or December of that year a lot of us would have been calling for their heads, or someone's head! Lets hope this little "third period" funk is this years February and things kick in soon! Besides, what's the "Good" part of the "Bad" record? They've won more of those games than they've lost! It could be MUCH worse!

kylee 727 Report post Posted November 29, 2008 We lost to Anaheim on a goal that personally I don't think that should have counted. We got SJ the next day and get beat 4-2 and we played the night before and lost to a good team with a great home record.Pittsburgh game was a absolute disaster on our part letting Pittsburgh to come back in the game with our effortless defense. The Montreal game we just flat out got outplayed in my opinion. But you are RIGHT,there shouldn't be excuses but for whatever reason we haven't clicked as a team yet.But I'm not worried about it. im not worried. the west coast thing was a thing with back to back games, and the Wings haven't played well on the 2nd end of the back to back in a few years now. but honestly, they havent been blowing everyone away like everybody thought, and that's okay, but i am slightly concerned but then again its only november. Pittsburgh and Montreal were stupid games. Against Montreal, the Wings were tired and didn't have a day off after a long flight. The Pittsburgh game was retarded. 7 - 6 and an OT penalty? It was good for ratings. Might as well call it a win. ESPN 2? They need to be ready for San Jose. I think that team could steam roll the Wings right now. KrazyGangsta 79 Report post Posted November 29, 2008 Nope if anyone beats the wings its going to be the sharks eastern teams are weaker then us. Btw you said we lost to all good teams let's not forget all those matches was the first meeting between them after us winning the cup. Most of the teams want to see compare themselves to us. So since it's their first match against us and us being the defending champs and favorite they played their best and better. Let's see how good they do the following games. NomadFromKazoo 42 Report post Posted November 29, 2008 We played until June and the playoffs don't start until April. We're winning games and have played almost 2/3 of them on the road. Anyone PANICING now is N-U-T-S. The one thing that does concern me is Ozzie though and only because We've seen this movie before. When he's motivated like last year he can play lights out great. "Comfort" has never worked well for him. Once he became our steady last time the D was so good they carried him to the Cup. That may happen again, but this is just looking too eerily familiar. Frankly if he were just inconsistent right now I'd have the same attitude as for the rest of the team that it's too early to be concerned. He's a solid #1 now without a challenge and giving up a steady diet of 3 goals a night to the opposition. It's so familiar it's really starting to concern me. When Ozzie went to the Islanders I remember saying he's got the talent to win a Cup on his own for them, and if he does it I still won't be sorry we let him go because he wouldn't have done it for us. He was comfortable and unfortunately in the past comfort for him has always equated to his sucking. I'm looking for any reason to see it as different this time, but right now I'm not. We're lighting up the scoreboard, that's why we're winning. It gets a lot tighter in the playoffs, you just can't give up 3 goals a game.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted November 29, 2008 I often wonder if other teams fans panic as much as Wings fans do. Seriously people youre worse than my mother! Feel free to use this once again and remember that I posted it on here about 25 times last season. Yeah, no s***. Posts that just embody "oh s***!" with absolutely no proposed solutions (not that they'd matter anyway, but whatever) are nothing less than stupid panic.
