Yeah, Pavel blew it last year when he went first and someone forgot to tell him the object wasn't to score pretty goals, but instead to skate backwards or juggle the puck and not register a shot on goal. Apparently there is no Russian word for 'retarded flashy bulls***'

Ya, thats kinda what I was thinking. And I know it isn't really hockey ... but its what I want to see. Especially with the Shootoutin the NHL these days, I have plenty of opportunities to see breakaway dekes, etc. The All-Star comp and more specifically the breakaway comp is an opportunity for the best players in the world to show off. Do stupid little tricks and what not that I could only dream of. Sure, it would also be sweet of the puck went in the net, but that asking a lot against NHL class goalies who are expecting reverse, wrap around, lacrosse style shots.

Kidding aside though, I agree with the earlier posts - Datsyuk creates moves that will actually work in game situations. I'd rather he break out the new moves in a shootout or on a breakaway when it counts. Let the other guys do their pirouettes and backflips.

Tell me, if a Blackhawks fan came here and said "Gee, I hope Nick slips on the ice and breaks his neck" what are the odds you'd chalk it up to sarcasm? Probably the same odds of you responding to this post with a "Gee, I guess you're right". BTW, since when did the phrase "breaks their neck" suddenly mean "chokes under pressure"? This is the first time I've EVER heard that expression used to mean that. Seriously. First time ever.

Man, i was using breaking his neck as a metaphore like....overall, i just hope he fails...sorry if it really sounded literal but I am NOT that type of guy....and another thing is I do realize it is hard to take text in the proper context at times on a message board...but in all honesty I really would not literally wish harm like that on anyone even if i really don't care for crosby.

Seriously...i mean, sure the guys in the comp are good but i've yet to see any of them pull off anything close to as spectacular as the "move" that datty has ripped apart turco, vokoun, and (forget other goalie's name) with. I hate this fan voting system to get the all stars picked as its not the best talent anymore, its a popularity contest...and the breakaway comp is the same way....so no matter who has the greatest looking shot....it comes down to whoever has the most fans watching it...aka crosby most likely....i pray to god that Kane or Ovy do something so ******* sick that crosby cries all over the ice and then slips and breaks his neck on it....crosby has talent yes, but he is the most overrated/overhyped player in recent history....ovechkin beats him on BOTH ENDS of the ice if you ask me...and so do dats and Z as far as complete players go.

To me, having the voting done by fans just assures that people watch and get into it....not that we have the best matchup possible in the AS game for the most exciting game possible...which is the way it SHOULD be

Remember, the league doesn't necessarily choose who participates in each competition. The players have the ultimate say in it.
