russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted January 29, 2009 Firstly, I fully expect both Lebda and Meech to be kept next season. Ericsson will replace Cheli, but as a 3rd pair d-man, then Lebda will be 7th defenceman, and Meech will again be 8th defenceman/13th forward...In my opinion that is. Secondly Filppula is going nowhere. He is on pace to have pretty much the same exact statistics as last season, without the powerplay time. The fact that he has put forth the same stats without playing on the powerplay shows that he is improving as a player. Also keep in mind that he is only 24, soon to be 25, and in his 3rd NHL season. Give him a spot on the 2nd power play unit and 2nd line next season and I bet you he has at least 60 points. He will be worth the 3 million cap-hit in a year. I just really can't see him being traded, I could be wrong though.
Frozen-Man 144 Report post Posted January 29, 2009 Sometimes it is amazing to me how the Wings can win a single game at all with so many worhtless, slack-jaw yokels on the team. QFT

I don't necessarily disagree with the 2nd paragraph, but am curious as to who you think should be retained, who should go, and who should come up from GR. gowingsgo 3 Report post Posted January 29, 2009 I'd go hard after Franzen. Not sure we can get all three done, but Franzen has paid his dues here.
egroen 384 Report post Posted January 29, 2009 Either way, it is a pretty win-win situation for Wings fans. I was worried both Franzen and Hossa would be gone. I think it is now clear we will see one of them next year - whichever one wants to stay the most, probably. Can't go wrong with either one.
