cnot19 191 Report post Posted January 29, 2009 Big time Downey fan here. Very Happy to see him up. The wings rarely have turnover in their lineups like many other teams that I watch. These callups wil be a nice change of pace. I am also excited to see how Leino does. Leino should only be used on the third line or higher otherwise, there is no point to this "evaluation. None the less Im glad some hockey is back and excited to see some different wings. Downey v Ott please
esteef 2,679 Report post Posted January 29, 2009 No, we're not. Ott is a coward. He'll hide behind a ref or something. True, better chance of Barch going with Downey. esteef
Frozen-Man 144 Report post Posted January 29, 2009 Downey is in for real tonight? you KNOW we're gonna see an Ott-Downey showdown. Yep should be fun - you know that Downey pretty much has to fight tonight and that's always exciting.
Guest mindfly Report post Posted January 29, 2009 Has it been confirmed that Leino will play on the 4th line on saturday or do you just assume he will?
Kira 451 Report post Posted January 29, 2009 YAY! I'm tickled pink to see Aaron tonight...and hopefully he'll still be up with the team next Wednesday night when we go to the game against Phoenix. Way cool!
seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted January 29, 2009 I was really hoping to see Leino tonight, but it makes more sense to have him in for Washington if only one of them can play.

Yeah,we need Downey tonight. But on the other hand we'll miss an opportunity to see what Leino could do in a slightly bigger role now when Z's not playing. Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted January 29, 2009 I thought you'd be happy Downey was called up. No one's stood up for a teammate here like that for a long time before or since. But as the end of the clip shows, I always thought Babs would double well as an enforcer. He looks like he's about to eat Granato alive. I wonder how that would work with the cap... 12Newf 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2009 Thats ******* awesome. The Wings NEED to see what Leino has to offer in a real NHL game or two if they want to know where he fits into the scheme of things next year. And I never thought I'd be so excited to see Downey potentially get a game or two here. I can't remember a more listless year from the Wings in terms of fighting, hitting, and overall physicality. i dont agree with you very often (no offense) but you nailed it. 12Newf 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2009 Good news but I've got to be honest, I would much prefer Ritola. He deserves a call-up, especially before Downey. im excited for downey because steve ott was running around quite a bit the last two games and maybe downey can show him what its like. Zion 93 Report post Posted January 30, 2009 Prediction: Ott lays out Kronwall with an elbow after a clean hit on Ribiero right after Downey's shift ends. Both players play too few minutes to square off.
RWK23 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2009 Prediction: Ott lays out Kronwall with an elbow after a clean hit on Ribiero right after Downey's shift ends. Both players play too few minutes to square off. Don't most of the guys with high fight numbers in the league play limited minutes? I don't see how this would be an issue. Ott being a ****** might though.
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted January 30, 2009 Has it been confirmed that Leino will play on the 4th line on saturday or do you just assume he will? Not really. It is 100% pointless to have Leino on the 4th line. He's not an energy line player- he's a top 6 forward, so putting him anywhere lower than 3rd is crazy. I'd prefer to see him on the 2nd line just to get an idea of what kind of top six potential he has.
