1.17 left in the second. 3 shots for Montreal, 3 goals for Calgary.

crazy how the Flames just kind of got the crowd back and took the game over. they could possibly be a playoff opponent for the Wings. I hope someone is there rolling some tape!

Yeah, maybe in the second round. It's gonna be pretty hard for them to be knocked out of third seed.

This game has seen such a turnaround. It was 2-1, the Habs had just killed a long 5-on-3 and had just gotten a PP. I really thought they had a chance to take a stranglehold on the game. Lombardi's SHG was big. Halak was very confident prior to that.

Now is this the difference between the Eastern Conference and Western Conference? West has looked to dominate East.

Personally, I don't see the Bruins and Caps will go that far in the playoff. I think the Devils is the strongest team in the Eastern Conference right now. Still, no one knows though. Habs, Flyers, Rangers, Sabres, these teams somehow have no intensity.

I really don't know what happened to the Habs. Before the season started, every Canadien media said the Habs would be the power house in the East but they have not been that good. Price is in slump, their PP is at the bottom, which was the 1st last season. Mostly, Kovalev is not as good as last season.

And now they allowed 33 shots against the Flames while they shot only 13? Is there defense bad too?

Started watching after the NJ/NYR game. So far this game looks great. I can't remember when was the last time I saw two SHGs in one game.

It happened the other night to Atlanta. But they don't really count I guess.

Another fight. Not a good one though.

I dont know if it's fair to use this game as a benchmark for west vs east, but it's widely understood in the last few seasons the west is so much more dominant.

The Habs came into this year with really high expectations, cause they have had decent teams the last couple years. Probably a lot of pressure put on them by the Montreal media to win it all this year for their hundreth season.

The East is such a weak conference. 10 teams fighting for 8 play-off spots, and 5 teams with no hope. Only Boston and Washington even have a chance of making the finals. Their all getting fat off those failing 5 teams. Montreal, New York are both such a joke. Neither have a chance at a cup.

Look at the West standings, even the worst team is only 6 points oyut of a play-off spot, and 9 points out of 5th. Any team could make the play-offs. And as far as I'm aware every western team has a winning record against the east this season except St. Louis and Anaheim.

There's a lot of people in Western Canada who will travel and follow the Habs for at least one or two games, especially since IIRC they only come out here once every three years. I know Crosby hadn't played in Calgary until last year. Well, he played in the midget tournament with Shattuck St. Mary's when he was 15, but you know what I mean.

I've noted the Habs have a lot of fans in Western Canada, second only to the local teams (Edmonton/Calgary) in those cities, but a good majority otherwise. Toronto is still in third place but I've got to think Detroit is getting closer.

I heard last 4 seasons, West has just dominated East by winning percentage was between 57 percentage and 60 percentage. That is huge.

Like you said, it will not be sexy if I benchmark for west vs east and west is far better than east by only this game. However, this pattern has not been changed for pretty long time. It really does not matter what conference produces the Champion team. If you watch some bottom teams in the West can compete really well against the top teams in the East, answers will come up.

Again, I am not forcing you to believe my statement but I think it is the truth: West is dominating the East.

Truth. St. Louis is actually the bottom team in the East and Pheonix is 12th in the West but I do not think they are particularly bad. Is it so unfair if I say Blues can make the playoff in the East by one game they beat the Bruins in SO? However, that is the truth. I mean, every team in the West has a chance to win.

Do you guys remember when the media said Canucks would be the worst team in the league before the beginning of the season? Are they that good then now? No. But they can fight for the playoff spot. In the East, Buffalo, Philly, Montreal, and NYR are in the playoff spot but they cannot be as strong teams if they are belong to the Western Conference.
