VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 Probie, Quincey and Howard 2 different players, again you guys look at stats never look at the actual play in the AHL, Howard has always been a very streaky goalie, he will have 5 great games, and 5 piss poor games, and I doubt he will ever be a solid #1 in the NHL. Look at it this way, if Kenny had confidence in Howard, why did we pick up Conklin when we were already tight against the cap? Exactly. I think a lot of people aren't aware of Howard's history. He's not among the best of the AHL goalies. He has what, a 2.5 GAA? Which is all fine and dandy, but in NHL stats that's probably a 3.5. He's very, very streaky. We all want Howard to succeed, nobody has any ill will toward him, but the reality is that the Wings don't see the future in him like they used to. He hasn't proven himself in the AHL or the NHL worthy of a roster spot.
chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 Unbelievable. People are ready to write off Howard based on 1 game in which the defense was poor. Wow. Just wow.

A 3.5 in the NHL would earn you second to last at #44 behind Toskala and just above Hedburg who has a 3.61. It would be a bit of a stretch to equate a #11 GAA in the AHL to second to last among all goalies in the NHL.

Look Im all for Giving Howard a chance......but the Brass have.......... EVERY training camp he has been given the chance to prove himself and ...well.....he not on the team.......Why should it be different in the middle of a season? Right now in the middle of a goaltending crisis is not the time to be grooming a goalie!!!! we need a vet in the playoffs, and that's the fact.
Slave 31 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) we need CUJO you guys can say what you want but it was not his fault we got kicked out of the playoffs with him in net, he played lights out our team gave him no offense, plus he will retire after this year i think, has a low cap hit(i think) and is a proven playoff goalie, plus toronto is not even using him. now you guys can flame me. As for Howard last night, i think 1 goal was his fault, we played horrible last night one of the worst games all year, our passes did not connect we looked like crap on the pp, our man coverage was poor, minnisoya looked awesome last nght, not like the usual minnisota team i see, they had the extra man coverage on almost evry play, they beat us to the pucks, the got their sticks in the anes to break up our passes. Overall i was mad watching our boys last night, i thought they would play better in front of Howard. Edited February 22, 2009 by Slave
