sixer 37 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 (edited) As per MLive: Wings forward Marian Hossa left Wednesday's game against San Jose with about 8:50 to play in the second period after a forearm/elbow to the back of the head by Sharks defenseman Douglas Murray. Hossa's helmet flew off and he skated off the ice and right to the training room, where he was being attented to by a team physician. The club announced during the third period that Hossa is out for precautionary reasons and will not return to the game. Get better Hossa!!! Please post the latest updates here. I hope the league reviews this! Edited February 26, 2009 by sixer
WingsfaninGermany 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 I really hope Hossa is OK. The Wings were able to win the Cup without him last year, but we need him to win it again. The good thing is he was able to skate off by himself, so it hopefully is not too serious. GET BETTER SOON MARIAN!!!!
miller76 463 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 Being that they talked about calling for the doctor is a little scary. If I was to take a wild guess, a concussion may have occured. I hope not. But I didn't really see anything else like a rib or extremity issue on the hit. I don't think there was any negligence on the play from the SJ player. Hopefully they just sat him for precautions, and everything is okay!
henrik40 76 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 he'll probably be fine, they just didn't want him taking another hit to the head. After Cleary's hit on thornton, they were out for blood even though Thornton turned into it but whatever.
Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 I'm going to be a negative-nancy and say he's probably out for awhile, hopefully back for playoffs. Injuries always start as "precautionary," then "day-to-day," and it goes from there.

I hope the league reviews this! You hope the league reviews what? It was a very awkward situation where Hossa got hit and then another player accidentally hit his head. There was no bad play. It was pure accidental. The only thing they would review is the Cleary hit. OHH, and whats with some stupid Wings fans CHEERING while Thornton was on the ground? I pray they were cheering at something else but it seemed pretty classless to me!
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 Updates from this morning. Hossa said his head felt "a little shaky." "But I'm going to be fine," he added. As for the hit, Hossa said, "There was nothing wrong with it."

Yzermania 156 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 Hossa out for Friday's game with sore neck, per Mlive. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...cticing_wi.html esteef no surprise, the second he left and wasn't coming back I knew they'd let him rest for the kings game, no point in playing him if he is the lsightest bit out of whack. He needs to be 100% when the second season starts.

Ms_Hockey 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2009 Any updates on when he's going to play? Last I could find was a March 7th mlive article saying that he's day-to-day. His knee has healed "remarkably fast" but his neck is still stiff. That's all I could get for ya.
