Datsyerberger 279 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 So the series ends with the record at 2-2. More interesting to look at is that the Wings heavily outscored the Sharks in the series, and that the Wings had a close game at the Shark tank whereas the Sharks got completely dominated at the Joe both times. I think that's a good showing of the Wings ability to play important matches. Our veterans really turned it up a notch tonight. If these teams meet up in the WCF, it's gonna be an interesting series. Datsyerberger 279 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 More importantly we need home ice Actually, I'm going to argue that San Jose needs home ice much more than we do. The Wings have put up a close game in the tank, whereas the Sharks haven't been able to do dick at the Joe.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 The one good thing about this years team, all year long, is that they show up for big games. For all the flaws (that they largely seem to have gotten over), they seem to be able to turn it on at will.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 I have to agree with Datsyberger here, San Jose will need home ice to beat us. We were in both games at the tank, whereas they werent in either one at the Joe. At the deadline, we're gonna add a mucker and/or a depth defenceman. I believe after the two games against us, there gonna be in play for big fish to try and put themselves truely over the top.

I had to look up that 10/30 game because I don't remember a thing about it. "In the game" is a little generous, because it was 4-1 (the score of tonight's game) before we scored with 30 seconds left. But 10-1 says that they need home ice more than we do--we stand a much better chance of stealing one at HP than they do at the Joe. Kind of a weird season series in that you have the definitive two best teams in the west (and the league, IMO), but only that last game in SJ was really a nail-biter. Oh well, no doubt in my mind we'll be playing them again in a couple months. Then again, I said that last year too.
Slave 31 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 i think if we in the playoffs like we played tonights game....yay stanley cup again noone will be able to touch us, a couple bad penalties but for the most part we totally dominated, right after hossa got injured i don't think they got the puck more then 20 feet insdie our blue line the rest of the 2nd period, and even with the pp's they had in the 3rd we still owned them. great game by maltby. henrik40 76 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 I feel like with San Jose's history of choking in the playoffs as of late, they need home ice more than the Wings do. That being said, I would still love to see the Wings have home ice.
