Definition of an ugly win, but I'll take it. It feels good to be able to say Ozzie was our best player, I hope this builds some confidence for him.

Honestly though, if the Wings had played like this against a decent opponent, they would have been destroyed. Weird to see an effort like this after arguably their best game of the season. Maybe they were saving it for tomorrow?

Thanks. I actually took this picture at their show in SF a few months back. One of the best looking drum heads I've seen.

That's because osgood was pretty good in net, they can't clear the puck, zetterberg and datsyuk had below average game, cleary just falls on the ice and should never be on the first line, lidström didnt have any finish with the shots, lilja looks dumb, kronwall gets stuck on the ice for too long cause he cant make the simple play out of the zone... christ, just look at the turnover stats... detroit had 12 in the 2nd period don't know the total..

Maybe you forgot here.. Red Wings won. AND Osgood had one of his best games this season to boot. THEN two players who never score, scored. Why do you even watch the game if all you can do is ***** when the Wings WIN?

Just go back to just before Game 6 of the cup finals and mindfly was predicting the Wings lose. I swear he ain't a Red Wing fan.

I'm not getting involved in the fights here, but this is a nice bit of perspective. You're team isn't going to be perfect everynight. But if a bad night is a 2-1 win and you get scoring from unexpected places when the big guns are silent for one night, that's a good sign, not a bad one.

The problem here is that the opponent was the problem tonight.I was at the game Wednesday night against SJ and it was crazy,it was like a playoff game. And then two days later you play a team that is not even in the playoffs you probably underestimate them a little bit. It's hard to get up for games like this soo close to the playoffs in my opinion, even as a fan I was watching the game like heh.Oh well,it's 2 points and I'll gladly take it.All wins are not going to be pretty, which is fine by me.You have 27 teams in the NHL that would love to be in the Wings spot. :D

Yeah, I guess. Obviously it's harder to get pumped up for a game against the Kings than it is against the Sharks.

Even more so in the season after you've won the cup. Still, I was shocked to see such a bad passing game from the Wings. It is a strenght though to win these kind of games where you're basically at your worst, so that's something positive to bring from tonight, along with Ozzie's (hopefully) return to form.

Worse than the SJ homers?

The SJ guys are probably worse homers, these dudes were pretty objective I thought. Except that they seem to think Frolov is as good or even better than Datsyuk.

But they were terrible in every other way. They didn't know that Draper had played a 1000 games without looking it up, they struggled with the Detroit players' names all game, and many times even with the Kings' players (once they said "Osgood" made a save when it was Quick) etc.

I even found their voices irritating.

I agree some of this. But you're selling Osgood short. Here's my summary:

1. Osgood had his best game since the cup finals. Tonight he looked like 2007-2008 Osgood. His saves on the PK were brilliant, it's just a shame his D couldn't clear the puck out after Frolov had his 10th fricking chance to shoot it.

2. Datsyuk looked injured out there. His skating was out of step and his hands were clunky.

3. Filppula made a great play to hand Kopecky that goal. Fil should've had the game's third star just for that :P

4. Leino was the best Red Wing forward on the ice.

5. Lidstrom seemed to be taking shorter and fewer shifts... his shot out in front of the net that hit Quick in the chest (on the play where he dropped right in to sit in front of the net) should've gone in. Normally he'd pick a corner and bury it given such a great chance... but this time it looked rather uninspired. Defensively he was just fine, however.

6. Zetterberg looked a bit zombie like out there. I'm sure he'll be better tomorrow... everyone not named Leino or Ozzy must feel like the phoned this game in.

Overall it was a good game because the Wings won and Ozzy played his best game since the playoffs.

I think the funniest part of this website is all the nerds getting bent out of shape over comments made especially when half of them havent played any sport other then playing with themselves in years.

Go Red Wings :)

 Lots of us have been or currently are involved in athletics.

Stop projecting your own inadequacies on others.

LOL

Toews scores a hatty, fans throw their hats, goal gets reviewed, ruled it was hit with a high stick and disallowed.

hawk fans loose their hats for nothing

Well, now they can just say they knew it was coming all along. Numbers 23, 24, and 25 for Toews.
