commadore183 103 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 The verdict is in....... 5 games. I'm kinda surprised they went that long. The history of the league in regards to suspensions involving hits to the head certainly didn't look that good. As I said, I would have thought they would do 2, maybe 3 games max. Still not long enough, IMO. They really need to bring the hammer down on crap like that.
SweWings 45 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 I was trying to think of some kind of a pun involving "losing his wits" but I couldn't think of one. In any case, stupid and completely unnecessary hit.
miksteri 55 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 Only 6 games? I hope that leafs bring up an AHL player that has no NHL future and he'd elbow Witt right out of NHL, same goes to Pronger and his constant elbowing.

ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 I agree with the commentators......why? Why would a player do that? Why, why why? I don't get it. Absolutely disgusting and I wouldn't care if he's banned from the league.
Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 OMG I want tickets to that game. There Will Be Blood. Should be an interesting game to watch if only for that aspect alone. Methinks that the Leafs are going to have a few things in store for Mr. Witt when he returns, if he even plays. Now, his coach might not need the weatherman to tell him which way the wind blows. Iam going to stick to the conspiracy theory that when a hit like that is on canadien television where everyone is watching or a star gets hit there will be a lot more games of suspension. seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted February 28, 2009 That was vicious for sure. I'm not sure that Witt intended it to be that dirty, because sometimes when you know you're going to miss a hit, you reach out and try to make contact. Not offering it as an excuse, I'm just saying I don't think Witt went into the hit thinking it was going to be an elbow. Also, Finns are hardcore They don't like to stay down after cheap shots. Unfortunately, this probably assures that Witt won't be traded come Wednesday's trade deadline. I love the clip on the Kapenen hit. My Leaf buddies were still oogling the "hit" even after the Leafs got scored on (and eliminated). that footage is also the last time the Loafs tasted the playoffs... how fitting. Won't happen...the Leafs are softer than a marshmallow.....though there will be a few futureless Marlies (Andre Deveaux) on the Leafs roster by then.
