ManLuv4Clears 7 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 A day that helped define the team and took them to the next level. I was on a flight to Florida for Spring break my senior year of high school. I almost cried when I saw sportscenter that night knowing that I missed probably one of the greatest games in the history of the team.

JayUp88 1 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 Yes I have those discs so cool. Sometimes we would watch parts of that game before our hockey games in college.

Johnny Law 15 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 As long as I live I will remember the feeling of that game, as soon as Larionov got into it you knew it was going to be a special night.

Dano33 41 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 I absolutely LOVE how this is a LGW holiday. I remember listening to it on the radio. We didn't have cable at the time (i don't know how i survived) so we decided to head to my grandparents house who were in Florida on vacation. We got there and the cable had been turned off for the month that they were gone, it was like a nightmare. Anyway, it was a perfect game for McCarty, the Wings, and their fans and i gotta believe it gave us quite a boost in the playoffs and WCF. i will never forget this game. XxGoWingsxX 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 When I watched this video, (and i'm dead serious here) I was holding back tears. I was 13 and was at this game and to this day, it was the single most amazing thing i've ever seen in person. It is my biggest nostalgic memory, and I have it on DVD and pull it out from time to time to watch it and I still get the HUGEST adrenaline rush from it. Still got mad love for D-Mac, but Unless we have some injuries, or play a team thats just absolutely pushing us around...he won't play in the stretch...much to my dismay but, we just have many other guys who are better suited to help this team in a much different/much more useful way. Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 I was 7, almost 8 for that and I remember I was watching the game with my grandma. She was babysitting my brother and me because my parents went to the game. I know I was really young, but I knew what Claude Lemieux did to Draper, although maybe I didn't understand the severity of it at the time. That was the day McCarty became my favorite Red Wing and childhood hero. The next day I immediately asked my mom for a McCarty jersey or shirt. The only one she could find at the store was an adult male large sized t-shirt. I cried and cried until she agreed to buy it anyway. And my mom and I agreed that if I would wear the shirt I had to let her tie it up with a hair tie and that I would wear only pants with it and not shorts. I wore it almost every day for a long time. I still have it to this day and it's still too big and it's still my favorite shirt.
MissyLKS8 6 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 As long as I live I will remember the feeling of that game, as soon as Larionov got into it you knew it was going to be a special night. Haha, I never saw Larionov do that... EVER. It was a total shock. Best. Pic. Ever. I can't find a good video of it right now but my favorite part is when Shanny and Foote stop throwing punches and start laughing at the goalies going at it. Five seconds late the starting again. Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 One of the greatest hockey games I've ever watched. The intensity was ratcheted up to 11 from first puck drop to the final horn. I can remember screaming at my TV during the brawl so loud, the neighbors were pounding on the door. I kept screaming "hit him harder! hit him harder!"....my dad thought I was nuts. Good times. Holmstrom96 347 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 I remember it all to well. I was watching and then all of a sudden IGOR LARIONOV of all people sticks up for himself and starts throwing punches. Then when McCarty popped Claudia I didn't think it could get better, then all the Roy\Shannahan Roy\Vernon stuff happened and I practically wizzed all over myself. Then top it off with a come from behind victory in overtime where McCarty scores the winning goal and the spins like a freaking dreidel in his celebration.
