LoL! Weakest comeback in the history of man. Nice try. Now run along so the adults can talk bout' the game. k. nite

"comeback"? That was what I was trying to get at in the first place, but you obviously didn't understand it.

And I think you've shown just how much of an adult you are with your posts in this thread..

What a joke of a game tonight. I'm almost glad to see the PP faultering if only to get Babcock to realize that Sammy is not a good person to have on the point when Ericsson's 100mph slapshot is sitting on the bench- I don't effing care what hand he shoots from.

Samuelsson was singlehandedly responsible for that SH goal- and that's because we got caught with a forward trying to play defense (not that I can blame him for not being a defenseman). Normally that risk is mitigated by the whole PP thing, but Sammy is horrible at holding the damn line too (is anyone else of seeing the puck constantly get past him on the blueline?).

For the love of everything holy- put Ericsson and Kronwall out as the 2nd PP D-pairing.

Oh, and Babcock: GIVE UP ON THE KRONWALL-STUART PAIRING! It hasn't worked for one freaking game this year. Not one. I know you want to see the pairings from last year's playoffs suddenly form up again, but Kronwall and Stuart haven't played well together all year. And the Lidstrom-Rafalski pairing hasn't looked much better defensively.

Rafalski is 10 times better defensively when he can't count on Lidstrom to clean his messes up for him. The Wings don't need Rafalski to get them more goals. The Wings need Rafalski to prevent more goals.

The best games I've seen Kronwall play this year were when he was paired up with Lidstrom and when he was paired with Ericsson. The worst? When he's paired with Stuart. Rafalski, on the other hand, has played pretty well paired with Stuart and would probably play well paired with Ericsson.

I know people will want to blame tonight on Ozzy, but he let 2 goals in on 30 shots... that's a pretty decent save percentage and a respectable goals against. That first goal was pretty brutal, but I blame Babcock for having a forward on the point more as much as I blame Ozzy. The second goal was actually a rough play by Lidstrom- I have no idea why he let his man have his stick free for that chance.

Still- 2 goals against? Not bad. 0 goals scored? Bad.

Well, if they had played like they did in the 3rd period from the beginning, this game would have turned out quite differently.

Even though it's painful to see the team like this, it's so obvious this was just a case of having no respect for the opposing team.

I think it's funny that so many are pressing the panic button after this game. If they play like this against Nashville on Sunday I'll be more worried.

Ok, I have to respond to this.

Please note, I am not a bandwagon fan, or even a doubter. And I missed thsi game.

1) It was not just a case of having no respect, or if it was, we're int rouble because they do this a lot. They need to respect the 7 or 8 seed in the playoffs and we've seen they have a hard time doing this.

2) The "Panic Button" comment. How many times have we heard this this season? "If they play like this against..." has been used to death. Well, guess what. We're running out of times to use that excuse.

There is something "off" about this team. I'm not going to pretend to know what it is or how to fix it. I'm not saying we can't win the Cup (I honestly feel we will), but during this regular season, something has been not quite right all along, even in their good streaks.

1. Not a Wings fan.

2. Fairweather fan.

Nice attempt at the "Wings fan" facade but you are as transparent as glass.

Stop creating labels for people you don't know. I have every reason to be mad, you all should be mad. The Red Wings are EXPECTED to WIN. There's no excuses. Detroit didn't play hockey tonight, took the Islanders lightly, and overall just didn't care. Maybe they'll get a wake up call in the first round...oh wait...8-0 lose....8-2 lose....2-0 lose....majority of games won by 1 goal.

MOTIVATION. MOTIVATION. MOTIVATION. MOTIVATION.

The team NEEDS MOTIVATION. Honestly, I thought Lidstrom was capable of being a leader, ALWAYS. Looks like he's still hungover from Lord Stanley. And another thing, Babcock destroyed chemistry that lines already had. Why screw up the things that won you a Cup? Mixing and matching the lines isn't a sign of a good coach, it really isn't. You can't say that's Babcock's fault, it's 100% Babcock's fault. If Babcock doesn't agree with the assistant coachs he can over rule them. But now? Man oh man...Babcock finally notices a line combo that could actually work. Yes you can use tonights game and say the lines sucked, but didn't we win a Cup last year with Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom? Chemistry is broken. A team cannot be consistent when you're at practice practicing with those line mates and all of a sudden at game time there's last minute changes while on the bench. What is up with that?

Don't get me started with the defense, it's absolutely terrible. Answer me this, "Will throwing the puck up the boards in the defensive zone, keep in mind you're in the National Hockey League, create offensive opportunities or eliminate the threat of the opponent scoring?"

No. I've seen it all year long. I have every single Red Wings game recorded and ever since game 1 of the regular season they've done that lazy play. You'll see a rare number of players actually skate it out of the zone, such as Filppula, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Hossa. Lidstrom- throw up the boards, Kronwall- Stand around and throw up boards, Staurt- Pretending to be doing something, Rafalski- Leaning into the habit of throwing the puck up the boards. You will not win hockey games like this. The whole defense is either screwed up or every team in the NHL has solved the Red Wings. Hmm...

So don't for one second ever make a judgment and tell me I'm not a Red Wings fan or I don't know what I'm talking about.

Ask Scotty Bowman how that worked out for him.

Seriously, I really think we should traded Franzen for a good offensive defenseman to play with Ericsson to get him some point shots. We'd have something like:

Lidstrom - Raffi

Ericsson - Kubina/Keith

Stuart - Kronwall

That would get Ericsson's slapper on the powerplay and really make our powerplay just completely over the top.

Of course, this being after Ericsson develops more in the NHL.

Our defense would be solid as hell.

Were you like this february last year too?

MOTIVATION. MOTIVATION. MOTIVATION. MOTIVATION.

Ask Lidstrom what the atmosphere is like in the locker room.

What's up with you making judgements as a layman?

Don't get me started with the defense, it's absolutely terrible. Answer me this, "Will throwing the puck up the boards in the defensive zone, keep in mind you're in the National Hockey League, create offensive opportunities or eliminate the threat of the opponent scoring?"

Defense has been bad at times, yeah.

No. I've seen it all year long. I have every single Red Wings game recorded and ever since game 1 of the regular season they've done that lazy play. There have been plenty of games where the defense has been the same as it was last year. Even if it wasn't, so what?

So don't for one second ever make a judgment and tell me I'm not a Red Wings fan or I don't know what I'm talking about.

Too late, you seem like a few of the "WINGS ARE DOOMED" posters I see around here.

Can any fan critique while being optimistic and not go "This is the Sharks year, no bout a doubt it." Same could have been said for plenty of Wings teams in the past.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't SJS just losee a game to PHX about a week ago?

Of course not. And no, Boston hasn't lost to the Isles either. It's only the Wings that can f*** up, nobody else. Go Sharks!

The home team has last change in the play-offs. To prevent your opponent from putting their top line out on the ice against Draper, Maltby, and Samuelson; you need to split up your top line. Don't put all your eggs in one basket so to speak.

Lol I''m praying the Red Wings get taken out in the first round now.

2-0 lose to Isles, 8-0 to Preds, 8-2 to Jackets (I think).

I feel sorry for Hossa for joining this joke of a team. This is the Sharks year and no one can argue.

Oh, what's this, someone jumping off the bandwagon after a loss and looking at 3 losses over the much larger 49 wins? How surprising!

You were never a Wings fan if you give up on a winning team that's fighting for a #1 spot in the league. Stop pretending. You're in the same group of spoiled ass Wings fans who I'm not gonna miss when the Wings aren't fighting for the same #1 spot every year and you take off for another team. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

For the first night possibly all year, Ozzie was the only one that came to play. I was at the game, and frankly, I want my money back. What an embarassing display. They half-assed it all night.

And you can defend the team all you want, but they could've clinched the division tonight with a win, and put some real space in between them and San Jose. Home advantage could be the deciding factor in the playoffs, and if we come up against San Jose, the season series says the home team will win. If that happens, we can all point to this game where the Red Wings mailed it in all because they were playing against a bottom feeder.

With a better work ethic, this was two easy points in the bag tonight. Instead, every puck battle was lost and passes were sloppy. Too much relaxation on these past two days off.

As one of the guys next to me said on the way out after the game, the best part of the night was seeing the 106 year old lady on the jumbotron. We should've put her in a jersey and see what she could do tonight.

Don't feel bad. I actually chose to go to this game over a couple others because I thought to myself "The Islanders? Easy win. 3 goals for us at least." And then my buddy started joking with me before the game. "Watch us get our asses kicked tonight..." Oops.

I was ready to stand on the corner outside the Joe asking every Red Wing to pay me about $4 each.
